I’m sure nobody can relate (heh) but I have a to-do list a mile long, and an expense to go along with every item. Among the things I reallyreally want to do are:
Programs (I’ve just about let go of this, though)
Out of town bags for the hotel rooms
Bridesmaids day-of bags with some goodies and supplies in them
But I’m considering relegating these things to the B list in the event of a loss of sanity/strain on the pocketbook. Of all the priorities, I think bridesmaids bags would be No. 1 (and they don’t have to be complicated, but I tend to go overboard), followed by out of town bags and then bathroom baskets.
I just need somebody to tell me that it would be 100% OK if I didn’t get any of these done. I’m getting the BMs custom clutches for their gifts, so it’s not like I’m leaving them high and dry, but I might feel a little crappy if I don’t get them treats for the day of. Maybe just pay for lunch in the hotel room?
Help me 🙂

I know this might sound crazy, but if you can do a really simple program to make yourself feel like you got it done, go onto vistaprint and use their free business postcards as programs 🙂 I just paid the $7 for shipping and it accomplished having some type of program

I think it’s okay – Do what’s going to make you happy. If you will stress and NOT enjoy the process of the above ‘extras’, then don’t.
If I may, as a guest, make a plug for a program…even a 5×7 piece of paper. I always appreciate knowing who’s who in the wedding party 🙂

@Vonnegut1105: If you want to do the bathroom baskets you can find a lot of the items plus the baskets to use at the Dollar Tree or Dollar store. That’s what I’m doing…cheap and easy peasy. :o)

Its okay to skip those things. I think lunch for your BMs would be nice. If you end up with some extra free time, as a guest I would enjoy the bathroom baskets the most because it seems like I always forget some crucial thing but I would NEVER expect them to be provided for me at a wedding. It is just nice when they are 🙂

I’m not doing any of them. I might not even do favors or have a bridal party. Haven’t decided yet.

Thanks, this is helpful – at the very least helping me conceptualize how to do these things 🙂 Because I really want to! But every day it seems I want to do more and more 😉

@Vonnegut1105: Yup that can happen. Especially when you’re on a website like this and seeing all these great ideas. Just make a list of things you know you don’t want to go without, and stick to it. Don’t take on more than you know you or your wallet can handle.

If it makes you feel any better I didn’t even know that people did any of them except the programs, lol. So my answer is it would be 100% OK not to do them. I do like the programs because not everyone knows the wedding party and we plan on putting something cute in them about each of our members. But other than that I would say your sanity and pocketbook are far more important!!

wow, that is a great idea!!

It’s 100% okay if you don’t do those things. Its just the wedding industry sucking us in, telling us we have to do this.
I planned on doing it all too, but now I’m not going to.
I will be doing bathroom baskets – cause you never know. And I’m going to buy our bridal party something, mostly just cause I love them! (Wedding party is made up of our siblings)

The only Out of Town bags I’m doing are for my international guests, and they will be Canada/Ottawa themed. So thats 3 couples – otherwise 99% of our guests are Out of Town, so it’d get out of control. No thanks.
I’m not doing programs. Or maybe I will. Definitely a “b” list item I’m refusing to think about until closer to the date.
Eeeh. I’m good on the bathroom baskets.
And I’m getting my girls a necklace/earrings set as well as paying their bar tab for the night. Dat’s it.

@mwitter80: is a rock star! What a freaking brillant idea.

You can skip all of those, but if money is the only issue with some/all of them, then there are definitely ways to make the programs at least, very inexpensively! I made mine in a simple book style and it cost me a whopping $7 for all of them.

@dodgercpkl: Those are adorable! How did you do them? 🙂
