Well, I’m editing this because as soon as I posted, I had my answer. I bought some pretty fabric today and while the blue matches the color scheme of our wedding, the fabric is far too modern. I’m tucking it away for another project. The search for fabric continues!
Today, I found the most gorgeous fabric at a local store and I bought a couple yards to use on the back of our escort card board (I’m going to hang the cards). While the color is great, I’m afraid that the pattern is more modern and might look odd in light of the style of the invitation.
The fabric (the blue is velvet…I love it):

@Jeannine @ Small Chic: What style of wedding are you going for? You can mix it up, but I am being macthy with everything in my wedding.

Nobody will be comparing their invitations to the fabric for the escort cards (well, I probably would, but I won’t be there. Do you have any gay men coming?). Make sure the fabric, cards and rest of the decor coordinate. If they work, you’ll be OK.

Well, if you are going for a vintage-y theme for your wedding, as well as your invites, I would say that yes, that fabric is a little modern for your theme.
If you are making the wedding theme more modern than the invites, then I would say that the fabric is fine!
I hope that makes sense 🙂

As soon as I posted it, I knew it wasn’t going to work. I love the fabric…I’ll tuck it away for another project.
I really need to carry the invitation around with me when I shop. 🙂

Nobody will notice. Trust me.
Also, that fabric captures the attitude of the invites without being matchy-matchy, which is sooo much better in my book. Matchy-matchy is boring.
