So Fiance and I rent his parents basement suite. His parents are great, we get along with them super well. Everything is, for the most part, just peachy.
A couple weeks ago, FI’a grandpa passed (FFIL’a dad) and the funeral is monday so all te family started rolling in today
Future Father-In-Law comes to us at 1030 last night and apologized in advance because they’re going to have a jam session. Cue guitars, bongo drums and a chorus of voices. The house is old and not tht well insulated and I can hear every single thing from their living room.
I sucked it up, until about ten minutes ago.
Now that it’s two in the fricking morning, I finally knocked and was all “great music guys, you don’t have to ahut’er down but seeing as how it’s literally the middle of the night, if you could maybe try to make it carry a little least that’d be awesome”
Cue drunk apologies, a random introduction to an uncle I’ve never met, and then I go back downstairs.
It is no quieter!! Iim like.. At my wits end.Ive been sick for like a month and it all came to a head tonight and I feel absolutely awful and I can’t even fall asleep in my own house. Ugh. What a night!!
Anyone else up late?

I’m up! Almost 6 am here. I slept for 4 hours and now I can’t fall back asleep!
@lalalyanne: does that happen often over there?

At 2 am they should totally shut it down and do something quieter. Did you explain that you are sick and need rest?

This is how some families deal with the loss of a loved one. I think you have to deal with it or go to a hotel. It is just a couple of nights.

@Crazeebee3: no, Not often. It seems to only happen when I’m really sick or when I have an exam the next day, though I’m sure that’s not on purpose!
@bapbap: I was just nice about it. I’m not good at bossing people around so I just asked nice 😉
@Horseradish: while I recognize this, and think that’s totally fine, I by no means feels I have to suck it up and go to a hotel!! If you’re going to rent a part of your house out, I don’t care of your own wife dies. You still have to be respectful of the people who pay to live downstairs. Not to mention that I couldn’t afford a hotel if I tried. Happy student land..I wasn’t saying thei shouldn’t grieve, just jay by two in the mornig they should be quieting down. I listened to bongos until 2 am , I think I did.
