“I’m not trying to be a b***h, BUT…”

Haha, generally if people feel they need to start a sentence with a disclaimer, chances are they should keep it to themselves.

It goes along the lines of, “I’m sorry, but..” No you’re not. If you were sorry, you wouldn’t be saying what you’re about to say in the first place.

ETA: “I’m sorry, but..” is my biggest pet peeve when it comes to language. It agitates me on so many levels I immediately lose respect for the person who has said it.

@Asia:  I agree. I was thinking more along the line of, “I’m sorry, but that shirt is ugly.”

@Hyperventilate:  arg me too. and all the ‘I’m not racist/sexist/homophobic but-“. I guarantee the second half of that sentence is ALWAYS offensive.

@Hyperventilate:  I’ll have to agree. I have a very passive aggressive person in my life (errr, soon not to be) and she’ll always say, “I’m happy for you, but…”

WHAT?

@Jellybones:  You’re right! It’s always going to contridict what they just said 100% of the time. Absolutely always.
