@peachacid:  Just thought I’d drop in and offer my insight on the party. I hosted my own ‘non-shower’ (we are having a non-traditional wedding with no bridal party), and my invite wording was similar.

Before she ties the knot,
BRIDE NAME
requests the pleasure of your company at a
traditional afternoon tea
held in honour of the special
ladies in her life… that’s you!

I know, cheesy. The reason I decided to have the party in the honour of the guests rather than of myself is to hopefully get the point across that it was a no gifts type event (spread that by word of mouth) that was a special ladies day that was kind of a substitute for the bridal shower I wasn’t planning to have.

I think this sounds like what this bride is going for! Just a celebration with the ladies. Bring a card or something just in case but unless you hear otherwise it sounds like an awesome, non gift event!

@peachacid:  You most definitely CAN. Now, for an 11am party? Um…probably not ๐Ÿ˜›

I love the colours of the one you just posted, but the first one still beats it since that one is more unique/less typical.

@peachacid:  Lady, that peacock-ish dress is the freakin bomb. You’re the guest of honor and should wear whatever the foo you want to. That dress totally fits the attire as “fabulous”!!

@peachacid:  Glad to see that “the gals” have come thru for you

(I knew they would)

As you know I am a bit of an Etiquette Snob in these parts…

So for a Luncheon, I’d say that out of the dresses you’ve posted so far

That Dress # 1 (Reply # 1 and # 4) would work, but you’d probably have to do some “undercover” work as it is backless.

MlleFabuleux: posted some good options in Reply # 7

Dress # 3 (Reply # 8) would also work… and it is White / Lite which is very popular with Brides for Bridal type events & parties

Dress # 4 (Reply # 19) is frickin awesome… for a Spring Luncheon.

And just so you know… my concerns with the other choices are:

Dress # 2 (Reply # 2) is cute, but as someone else said a tad on the juevenile side, so not the FABULOUS LOOK you’d be looking for as an Engaged / Soon to be married Lady.

Dress # 4 (Replies # 9 & # 15) is an INCREDIBLE DRESS… and makes me think of the whole Mad Men era thing that is popular right now.  BUT as that is where some of the Rules of Etiquette made their mark, this is most definitely a Cocktail Hour Dress rahter than a Luncheon / Afternoon one.  I think that more than likely you’d find yourself over-dressed for the occasion.

Hope this helps,

i LOVED the white dress you posted – it’s so pretty! plus, you can wear a bra with it easily, it’s nice without being super formal and you could totally wear it again ๐Ÿ™‚ white is so easy to accessorize, you can literally wear any colour with it.

that one has my vote – and i love that you’re getting a luncheon! so fun ๐Ÿ™‚

@peachacid:  o.m.g. That last floral dress you posted I actually choked on my cereal, it’s so lovely! It’s a fabulous bunch dress – I say go all out and get heels and even a great hairpiece or hat.

you need to stop second guessing yourself. You’re beautiful, your friends dont suck, and this party is going to be a great time!
