I’ve joined an open mic on Thursdays. It’s so wonderful to hear people who openly read their poetry and play music. It just feels so powerful.
Last week there was like ten people in the crowd (besides those performing) and today there must’ve been like 30. The place was packed! And in the two hour time slot we had to read we barely got through everyone. It’s so wonderful to be in such a supportive community, and to know that something I wrote today would get so much feedback.
Next week, it’s on to the slam.
Are you involved in anything in the community that makes you excited?

@SleepingWithNuns: That’s lovely. I’m one of those lacking-in-abstract-thinking people in the crowd with a puzzled look on my face 🙂 I am glad you found a group you enjoy. We belong to a group called the Bully Buddies. We take our big dogs out the off-leash dog park and let them go crazy. It’s nice letting out big fat fur babies play and not have to worry about one of them stepping on and squishing a malt-poo or a yorkiepom haha.

Oh, I love watching open mics, my Dad and I play in them sometimes but for some reason they make me more nervous than regular shows! I looove to watch them though, everyone always brings their best and there’s always such a variety of performers.
I am a big fan of Sacred Harp and sometimes go to the singings we have locally, I haven’t been in a while but it is such a wonderful experience.
