I am so embarrassed to be posting this!
I purchased my dress only a month ago and it fit pretty much perfectly. Not long after I got the flu for 2 weeks, which meant lying in bed most of the time eating and slouching around. I mostly drank water and soft drink during this time because I had such a sore throat. I rarely drink soft drink, but while I was sick I had it almost every day. The weight I put on is noticeable, mostly around my waist more than my tummy.
I tried my dress on today and although it will completely zip up, it is satin and looks stretched across my middle. I am so embarrassed and my tummy looks really bloated. I know if I don’t lose some weight my dress is barely going to fit on my wedding day, which is on the 30th of August! Do any bees have some healthy suggestions for losing weight in such a short amount of time? I got a gym membership today and I am really keen to get back in shape.

Don’t stress! You’ve got plenty of time to get back to where you were .. you’re possibly just bloated.
Go crazy for tap water – 8 to 10 glasses a day, avoid excess sodium (even soft drink has sodium!) and stick to loads of vegies, whole grains and protein. Green tea is also great for bloating and boosting your metabolism.
Personally I think diet is 90% of weightloss, cardio can’t hurt.
Best of luck! You’ve got a few months so you can definitely make a difference 🙂

I agree with Jane. 🙂 Lots and lots of water. Some coffeee and green tea couldn’t hurt. I would stick to a diet eating as many vegetables (with lowfat dressings) and fruits as possible; include some LEAN protein (grilled chicken breast, turkey breast, lean steak, black beans, cottage cheese). Avoid soda pop and juice because those won’t fill you up but will cause to gain weight.
Most importantly: don’t stress and be kind to yourself. 🙂 If you take soda out of your your diet and eat healthy, the weight should just fall off. Good luck!

I agree with the water! It will help you drop the bloat and make you feel better within a few days. Add some lemon to it to flavor it and lemons good for this thing too. Tea will also help with the bloat.
i have noticed improvements doing cranches everyday. I aim for 100 total – not all in one set.
Make healthier eating choices and you’ll be fine!

- Wedding: April 2013 - A court...
You have PLENTY of time.
Two weeks of eating/ drinking ? Badly shouldnt be that hard to undo. Whats helping me are myfitnesspal, LOTS of water, avoiding fried/ processed foods, no coke (though I drink a bit on occasion ), of course veggies & if can throw in some yoga or something to tone up it’ll help. I’m still in the weight losing progress but all of these things have helped me.

janereaction: minidancer: CaliforniaLovin: atreyu547: Thank you so much ladies! I vow to cut out soft drink and drink plenty of water. I will eat more salads/veggies too, I also really like the green tea and lemon idea. Thank you all for comforting me, I had the biggest panic attack when I saw how tight my dress was.

Peach.Candy: I am having the same problem. I have been laying around since having foot surgery at the end of April.
When I lost all my weight, I just made up my mind to eat more healthy. I am sure if you watch what you ea, cut the soft drinks out again and get a little active (20 min walk, 3 times a week) you will lose the few lbs you have put on.

MrsUPS: Thank you, that sounds like a good idea. I am going to make sure I cut out soft drink for sure as well as most alcohol and fruit juices. I don’t really eat a big amount of unhealthy food apart from chocolate, but soft drink is something that always makes me put on weight.

Following! I know I don’t get enough water and that is a reason I don’t lose, even though I am pretty smart with what I eat and workout 3-4 times a week.

I have never gained weight with the flu! Eeek!
Track your food (write it down), exercise moderately and drink some water. Cut out the crap and get back to basics. You can do this!

Are you sure you’ve gained weight? You could be bloated from the pop..
I’d cut pop out and drink only water. Focus on eating real food, nothing processed. You have plenty of time if you make serious changes and stick with them.

Peach.Candy: you have plenty of time!!!! I agree that about 10 pounds should do the trick 🙂 You can easily lose that by that time

LilRhodyGem: I don’t usually gain weight when having the flu, but like I said I drank so much soft drink and I think I must have had a massive carb and sugar overdose 🙁 as soon as I felt well enough to eat I ate as much as I could because it was incredible to be feeling better

Sticking to a 1,200 calorie diet and working out helped me drop 10 pounds in like, two months. I cut out soda cold turkey (Soda was my vice. It was as much a vice for me like smoking is for other people) and I saw the weight melt off after ditching soda. Eat better, count calories but don’t restrict yourself. Everything in moderation.

Everyone has a different daily caloric need, so I wouldn’t automatically say doing 1200 calories a day is the best option. I agree with what everyone else said, just cut out soda and juices and alcohol, and increase the fruits and vegetables you eat. I personally don’t count calories because it becomes obsessive and I don’t like that feeling with food. However, I know it does help some people more than just having guidelines. Do what works best for you , but you can definitely lose the weight! Most likely it’s just bloating from all the carbonation and sugar in the soda 😛
