Same here. I will be starting monitoring probably mid September. Still trying to decide if we will do PGS testing but I’m leaning towards no and then we’ll do a fresh transfer in October. I have this month “off” but will be doing some prep like ordering meds, mock transfer and injection class. Good luck!!

So happy to see this thread! Would love an IVF buddy. I will be stimming in a few weeks, PGS testing and then FET in October (?). Just got my meds in the mail yesterday. Seeing all the meds was very overwhelming to me. Even more than I expected!

brown_eyed_baker :  If you are self pay for meds, you could look into  ivfmeds.com or ivfpharmacy.com (I have personally used the latter 3x).  They are overseas pharmacys that are about half the price of anything you will find in the US.  It’s legit same brand name meds with European packaging.

brown_eyed_baker :  they still need a prescription from your doctor.   I would get one from my clinic and email it to them.

Here’s a copy and paste of a tip I wrote to another lady as well….

Gonal-F pens all come with a little over 100iu overfill. So 300iu pen has like 400iu of medication, 450iu pen has like 550iu, and 900iu pen has about 1000iu medication. And the price is proportionate, so a 900 is usually exactly 3x the cost of the 300iu pen. So you definitely want to ask for prescriptions for 300iu pens to maximize your overfill. And this way, you end up with less left over each time you use a pen. (My first cycle I didn’t know that and had to open up my 900iu pen for ONE injection. And then they say to discard after 28 days, so the rest of that pen was tossed!) The only time that sucks is if you have to take over 200iu per dose, a lot of nights you’ll have to end up sticking youself twice with two pens to finish up the dose. Also, if you’re super desperate for a few more iu’s, you can stick a syringe in it and pull out what little is left in the pen after it won’t inject anymore. I usually got just about 7-9iu from doing that, and I’d save up all the pens and do 4 at once and get another 25iu. (This helps me cause I usually end up right on the edge of needing just a few more or opening/buying a new pen).

Good luck on stimming! I just finished my first egg retrieval in August, and will be doing my first FET in October.

For anyone that is on the fence about PGS I strongly recommend it. DH and I were 27 at time of retrieval, and two of our five embryos came back abnormal (one of them was our highest rated embryo). We now keep saying how glad we are that we chose that route, even though we were on the fence too.

brown_eyed_baker :  I’m lucky that I live in a state with mandated fertility coverage so meds are not entirely OOP. Each med had a co-pay so my instance company mandated that I use CVS specialty pharmacy. During my IVF appointment with my doctor she assigned me to the antagonist protocol and sent these prescriptions To cvs specialty. There are different IVF protocols, some with different meds so your doctor will tell you what meds and doses to take and then you can order them. Have you had your IVF consultation with your doctor yet?

brown_eyed_baker :  we are serve male factor Infertility and I actually just got home from my retrieval. Let me know if you have any questions. We’re doing PGT so transfer won’t happen until October I would assume. Also we had to pay everything out of pocket. I had to stim for 12 days. I was on a high dosage of gonal f and menopur. (Menopur burns just FYI). I was on certitide as well. I recommend the gonal f pens. Also create an organized system for the meds. I have two tubbies that have three draws and everything labeled. It made it easier for me.

ttckp1108 :  thanks for sharing. I’m trying to understand all the proper terminally. Did your pgs screen for chromosomal abnormalities? DH and I were torn but decided to do pgs due to recurrent pregnancy loss.
