1111makeawish :  Good plan. Nice not to have to worry about trigger. I just peed on an IC that was BFN 10 hours ago and now has a shadow of a line- but who knows. 4 days post transfer also seems SO early for me to get anything esp after only transferring 1

Update, as of stim day 11, I have six follies and three of them are in the double digits (16, 12, and 10) and the rest are falling behind. Dr wants me to continue taking shots till Sunday and then she said she may do my trigger shot. I’m hopeful, sceptical, and nervous because it doesn’t seem like a lot to me. She said this is in line with what she was expecting so… I don’t know. Good thoughts this way please! 🙂

nautilusl2 :  You should get eggs from those follicles!  Mine were measuring around there my second to last scan.  My last scan I triggered that same night.  I stimmed super fast though so triggering Sunday or Monday sounds about right for you!  Try not to stress.  Your doc seems like she is happy with the progress so try to worry too much.  I know that is difficult.  I was worried the whole time and had no reason to be.  Good luck!

Hi ladies, looking for some advice.

Our of the 3 embryos, 1 was normal, 1 was not, and the 3rd they didn’t have enough genetic material to test. Has anyone done back to back egg retrevials just to get them in the bank? DH isn’t feeling well so doesn’t have any thoughts on it.

houstonsweetcorn :  I *****think****** @pinkshoes has done this (she has commented on this thread but is currently very pregnant with an IVF babe so not part of roll call).  Honestly, if you can handle it financially and physically, in your situation I would probably do another just for the security.

houstonsweetcorn :  I haven’t done back to back retreivals other than a cycle cancelled at stim day 9ish, and then another stim cycle immediately following, but it’s not unheard of and my RE was not against it if timing had worked out for me to do so.  I did do 3 banking cycles before transfering test embryos cause I was 36-37 at the time, still trying for our first and wanted a potential second child so felt we should bank before transfering and getting older.  (I creeped back a few pages and read about your husbands diagnosis, I’m so sorry)  I think if you have the funds or coverage and need to bank more embryos, either for reassurance or sibilings, now would be the time.

I usually like to play out the worst case senario of my decisions and see which decision would be “best” or the one that I would least regret when making tough choices.  You’ve probably already played this all out in your mind, but just to get it down in writing….

Timeline wise,  for worst case senario where the transfer doesnt work, I think you’re in the same place.  If you do the transfer now and it doesnt work, then you do another retreivals… that’s 2 months time.  If you do another retrevial, then transfer after, that’s 2 months time.

Best case, you went to transfer and this PGS embryo took.  Or you do another cycle, then transfer, and it takes, then you’re only out one month for teh extra cycle.

And an in beween say you retreive, then move into a FET to transfer your alreayd tested embryo immediately after.   And while you do your prep, you test the embryos from taht cycle.  If it works, you’ve only pushed out one month.  If it doesnt, then by the time you know that, your test results should be back too and  you can move right into another FET if you have more good embryos.

So…. based on that, personally…. I think the “safest” plan is another cycle and FET immediately following using the PGS embryo you have from this cycle.  It would give me the reassuarance of possibly more embryos, but only delay me 1 month for a FET.

I haven’t been around much, because I’ve just been waiting to get started on my first cycle.  It got held up for a month while we waited for our genetic screening to come back.

I’ve been on birth control the past two months, and we were supposed to start our first cycle when my period started.  My period started yesterday, so I went in this morning for my baseline ultrasound, and I was supposed to be starting my Lupron today.  At my ultrasound, a 2 inch cyst was discovered on my right ovary, so this cycle is cancelled before it even got off the ground.  I’m so disappointed, especially after already being pushed back a month.

I’m going back on birth control today to try and shrink the cyst, and I’ll go in for weekly ultrasounds to monitor it. I’m starting with 21 days of birth control, and if it’s still not gone, another 21 days, and then they’ll aspirate it if it still is not gone.

I’m just so frustrated.  I’ve got stage 4 endo, and have had a lot of ultrasounds, and I’ve never not had a cyst show up.  I’m just so paranoid that I’ll never get to be a mom.  Plus, we are cash paying, so I’m just worried that this will all be for nothing.  We’ve already invested almost $20k, and we can’t even get a cycle off the ground.  I’ve got a fridge full of meds that are probably going to expire before we even get to use them.  I’m just so defeated right now

pinkshoes :  Thank you for the detailed response! What is crazy about all of this is that we are on the super fast track.  While I have read a lot about this in the abstract, due to DH’s diagnosis we went directly to sperm freezing and IVF.  I am so impressed with our clinic having spaces available for people like us, and were able to fast track.

I have been thinking about what you wrote, and what we have been discussing.  To be honest, DH is struggling with his recovery from chemo and radiation.  The big question is: do we try and implant now, knowing that there is a high risk of not meeting the baby but being part of the pregnancy and also us going through all of that shit, or wait a few years.  If we decide not to try to implant soon, I want to do another cycle to try and get more embryos.  It’s freaking expensive but that peace of mind is worth it.  I hope.

pigpug10 :  I’m so sorry to hear that it is getting pushed back! The cyst is super frustrating – I’ve had them before and it not what you need to hear.

When do the drugs expire? My office has been really good about helping me with medications (note: not the cost – we are also paying out of pocket!) but maybe they have some ideas?

Again, I’m new to the interfitlity area but I am thinking of you.

houstonsweetcorn :  I’m sorry that you have dealt with cysts as well, they are super frustrating!  My Lupron is the one that expires first, and it expires the beginning of October, and my meds were just delivered on Saturday.  I actually called my nurse this afternoon about it, and she said the pharmacy we used () will replace the Lupron for free if it expires before we get to use it, so at least there’s that.  Small victories, I guess.

candy08 :  We still haven’t decided.  We have a consult tomorrow with our doctor.  My husband is having a tough recovery from chemo and radiation, so isn’t really up to discussing anything (he is basically sleeping all day). I hope in a week or 2 when he (hopefully) feels better, we will decide whether to try a transfer now, in which I think we would go forward without another cycle, or wait, in which we would do another.

It turns out my across the street neighbor has unexplained infertility and just found out her only embryo didn’t implant.  So we sat on my porch and cried a bit together.

Update for me: hey yay’a! Didn’t think I’d get to today, but I just had my egg retrieval! On my last ultrasound, I had 3 follies at 22, 18, and 17 with some stragglers at 10 and 8. They were able to get 5 eggs which is more than I was expecting. The procedure went well and they were able to drain the endometriosis cysts that I had in there so yay! Now we’re on to the next step. Fingers crossed and prayers that they mature and work out.
