Hi MissKristi! I’m not on quite the same timeline as you, but close. I had my egg retrieval this past Monday and I’m waiting to hear the results in the next few days. We’re PGS testing and freezing all embryos due to suspected egg quality issues, and I’ll likely be transferring in January. I didn’t find the stims to be so bad but I am a bit sore from the retrieval still! What protocol will they have you on?

MissKristi :  depends when I get AF and how well my lining responds to the estrogen supps, but hopefully the first week or two in January! I was VERY lucky, they got 22 eggs and 16 fertilized normally and made it to Day 1. I find out how many made it to freeze on Tuesday 😳

There are a few different IVF protocols, mine was the ‘antagonist’ protocol which I guess is the most common. I only stimmed for 9 days which is fine by me πŸ˜‚ I was on gonal-F and Menopur with Ganirelix added in to prevent O the last few days. Don’t be afraid of the needles – they’re so little and they barely hurt!

Katrina05 :  thanks for the good wishes! I’m so glad your first IVF worked for you. It’s great to hear positive stories 😊

sleepymelis :  Thats awesome!! I actually had 22 eggs retrieved also but after wedding out the bad ones, fertilization, then genetic testing it came down to 8 embryos. I did a frozen transfer and all was fine. Good luck!

MissKristi :  Just wanted to say good luck!! I’m holding my month old baby who came from a fet cycle!! Ivf is so mentally, physically, and emotionally tough but it is all worth it!! For me I found it helped to do things that I enjoyed that wasnt related to ivf. It helped me get through…… Like read something you enjoy or go to dinners with your dh….ivf can be all consuming so doing something you enjoy to take the focus off it helped me a lot. Good luck!!

MissKristi :  We are transferring in January and doing two embryos.  I am hoping for twins too but obviously would be estatic just to get one.  Totally understand your feelings.  Good luck with your retrieval!!!!

MissKristi :  good luck! I just wanted to add that you can still get good results with a low number of eggs/fertilisation rate.  I was upset when I only got 8 eggs and even more upset when only 2 fertilised. But my baby boy is sleeping next to me right now and the other embryo was frozen. So try and keep positive and we will send our best thoughts your way.
