mama2bee71 :  some doctors really just get stuck in their ways, plus everyone’s body is different. My clinic only offers PIO, suppositories for progesterone aren’t an option. In their experience they work better and that’s what they do. Although I’ve seen on these boards plenty of people taking suppositories!

also I’m up to my 4 patches every other day this week, and I can’t reuse the same spot for a week so as to not irritate the skin and I’m seriously running out of real estate! My toddler walked in on me putting them on over the weekend and she thinks my “stickers” are so cool lol.

mama2bee71 :  I’m not sure of the exact protocol name, but I’m doing a FET. I started birth control the first week in August, overlapped lupron during the last week of pills and I continue the lupron until this Saturday. I started estrogen patches 2 weeks ago and I replace them every other day and gradually increase the dose – I went from 1 to 2 to 3 and now up to 4 patches. I’ll continue that until my lining check on Saturday. Assuming it all looks good I’ll add in PIO Monday, continue with 2 estrogen patches every other day, and then transfer on Friday! And try to ignore the fact that it’s Friday the 13th lol. Then the estrogen and progesterone continues until my pregnancy test.

mama2bee71 :  I was told it basically shuts down my own system so that they can completely control my hormone production with drugs. We have 3 embryos left and we don’t know the sex of any of them! All I said was that I want the same embryologist as last time because she picked a perfect human with my daughter lol. We didn’t find out she was a girl until the birth and will likely do that again (my husband is bummed but hey – my uterus my call!). Can you test that quickly!? I haven’t done a FET before because my daughter was a fresh transfer and I needed to wait until the HCG trigger was out of my system so I didn’t get a false positive.

oh and I’m more worried about how unworried I am. The fresh cycle was so intense and now I feel like I’m just kind of going about my life even though I’m trying to get pregnant. It’s super weird. Way less stress than last time for sure!

mama2bee71 :  yup – 10 weeks of PIO with the fresh. My butt was so dang sore. I’ve read that FET has a higher success rate which gives me hope since I had success with the fresh on the first shot! Our clinic genetic tests the parents and only does the embryos if we’re both carriers for something. Since we weren’t we didn’t. I’m kind of glad – I’d love a boy next but what if we only had one male embryo and it failed? Would that make me sad? Idk I just need to leave it all a surprise for my sanity haha

mama2bee71 :  the closer it gets the more real it becomes! PIO starts Monday. I hope they don’t switch me to the morning, I’d have to wake up so early so my husband can do them before he goes to work! When’s your tranfer?

also they told us that they test all parents as protocol, but they didn’t test my friends that used the same clinic after us. I think they were just trying to be delicate rather than say “lady you married an Ashkenazi Jew and they are carriers for all sorts of bad shit”. Since my genetic testing was cleared they didn’t even bother with him.

mama2bee71 :  why estrogen? Progesterone builds the lining. I’m confused.

mama2bee71 :  I’m sure it’s both, but I know after ovulation progesterone builds to thicken the lining for implantation, and then the follicle from where the egg came from forms a cyst to keep up progesterone production to maintain the pregnancy, i.e. the lining of the uterus, which is usually why women who have trouble maintaining pregnancies are put on progesterone. My own personal anecdotal evidence: I take progesterone cream sometimes to offset pain caused by a condition I suffer from, and the cycles I do, my periods are SIGNIFICANTLY heavier, i.e. thicker uterine lining.
