So… my guy was flipping through one of my bridal magazines and mentioned that he can’t wait to see me in the white dress. Umm…my dress is ivory. Cue the debate between white, ivory, soft white, off-white, eggshell, champagne and every other “white” color you can think of. Of course, he doesn’t get that most people look better in ivory and most dresses are purchased in ivory and not white. Anyway, I told him that I fell in love with the “blush” pink color and was looking for a pink dress which totally shut him up. So, ladies… post your ivory colored dresses!!!! 🙂

I picked ivory. To me, ivory was white enough on my fair skin. But I recently saw an episode of say yes to the dress and the bride’s ivory dress looked YELLOW! I think ivory can come in many shades. Mine definitely seems likea creamy-white.

I have no decent pictures but here is a horrible one

I am so torn about the ivory…but I bought it…so I have to come to terms with it.

My wedding is over and whenever my Fiance brings up my dress he still calls it white – guys really do not know the difference. Whenever I say ivory he is basically like, “I don’t know what that means but whatever, it was some shade of white.”

My dress without flash
my dress with flash
The flash makes a huge difference so bright light even a buttery ivory like mine will look white (slightly off white but not yellow)

@unixfairy: Oooh, thanks for the different lighting pictures. I haven’t taken my dress outside (because I’m afraid it will get dirty…but my wedding will be in morning sunlight. Hopefully the bright light makes my dress less “yellow”!

My dress was ivory and it really looked much better against my skintone than the stark white did.

Mine was ivory. Believe me he doesn’t know the difference.

Mine is “light gold”, which is really a quite dark ivory. It’s what looked best on me. It still looked quite bridal, though. Both Future Sister-In-Law and Future Mother-In-Law commented on how dark it was when they saw it, but they agreed that it looked great. I’m a little worried, too, since Fiance and I had the same debate, but whatever.
I think you can only *really* tell how dark the dress really is when you put it next to something that’s pure white, like the tulle and petticoats underneath:

This first picture shows the richness of the ivory, which I am bias, but I consider it to be drool-worthy…looove rich ivory dresses. Second doesn’t show it quite as much but I think it was the lighting…however, it goes to show you that there isn’t going to be the biggest difference in the world between the 18million different whites

Darling Husband also said he doesn’t like the “off-white” or any bridal gown that’s not white. He LOVED my dress.

My husband still doesnt know the difference, he says they are all white LOL

I am not even close to buying a dress yet, and Fiance said to me (out of nowhere) “I think you would look best in ivory.” 🙂
