So I was originally going to do white tablecloths with a runner and white chairs, but since my dress is ivory I need to do ivory tablecloths. The lady at the rental place said that I don’t need to have white chairs because they’ll clash, and the only other color of chairs they have are black. Would black chairs, ivory tablecloths, and champagne colored runners look good? It’s a winter wedding and my colors are black, ivory, champagne, and deep red.

Black chairs sound perfect to me. They tend to “disappear” a little bit more in the photos, if men are in dark suits, and a lot of the women might be wearing black.
That being said, if you would rather have white tablecloths, I think you should have them. It doesn’t matter if your dress matches the tablecloths… I love the look of crisp white tablecloths.

I actually don’t think white and ivory look bad together. If there is a champagne runner it will look like different neutral shades. Depending on your centerpieces I think it could look really crisp and beautiful. I also agree you should not worry about the linens matching your dress. Just go with whatever you find visually appealing.
I’m having a hard time visualizing black chairs with ivory table clothes, but that doesn’t mean it won’t look great. I might put a touch of black, maybe some damask, on the actual table to balance the dark and light.

I think it actually sounds really elegant! I never though about using colored chair covers…that being said, sjbee’s idea of adding damask would be really pretty!
