Well the other half and I have been talking wedding dates which has motivated me to look at many wedding dresses (as if I needed motivation hehe) and the age old question has arised, what to get a dress in ivory or white? Here is attached a couple of photos of me wearing ivory (end of summer meaning I had SOME color) my wedding is likely to be in winter so my skin colour would be like the other photo. Please help 🙂
PS: I’m fair skinned, blond (think Taylor Swift colour) and have dark green/hazel eyes 🙂

I think fair skinned brides look lovely in ivory. My Future Sister-In-Law is extremely fair skinned so she opted for ivory and it looked fabulous on her. I say go for the ivory over the white since you’re having a winter wedding. It’ll add some warmth to your overall look!

@adoc86: Thank you for replying 🙂 I’m leaning towards ivory I think it suits me best … this is
the dress I currently am considering buying as you can see here it is shown in white hence my confusion 🙂 .

My friend has the same complexion as you and wore ivory on her big day. She looked stunning.
That dress is very beautiful! If that one doesn’t come in ivory, I’m certain you can find the same kind by a different designer who makes it!

@FutureMrsSarah: I think fair-skinned women look better in ivory because the bridal white washes a lot of people out. I think women with a more tan or olive skin tone look better in white. 🙂 I would definitely go for ivory!

I would for sure go with ivory. It’s much more flattering on us fair skinned ladies! Most dressmakers will allow you to purchase in both.

I agree with all the others – fair-skinned women look much better in ivory than diamond white. I actually wore an ivory/champagne dress (champagne silk slip, with an ivory lace overlay) on our wedding day and it made me look wayyy tanner than I actually am haha.

Another vote for ivory. I think it’s the most flattering color for the majority of girls.

@FutureMrsSarah: i say ivory! i think stark white looks tacky on fair skin..

I don’t care what color someone’s skin in… I love pure white for wedding dresses.

I’m fair skinned like you are, and I tried on both colours to see what worked best, and hands down, Ivory won. When I tried on the white, 2 of the bridal consultants at the store (who weren’t helping me find a dress) stopped and asked if I wasn’t feeling well because white made me look ill.

surely it depends on the look youre trying to get. If you want to pull off the English rose look, white will work but you have to do the whole look

@OoOTifsterOoO: Thanks everyone for your replies!! I think I agree that Ivory suits me best and this dress does come in ivory but they don’t have it in stock so it’s a bit of a gamble (I don’t want it to be a wierd yellowish ivory but rather like the ones I’ve seen on other dresses or online) 🙂
I like white dresses but I’m not sure they suit everyone and its true that they can look somewhat cheap and tacky on some people!
