Beach Wedding Bridal Party

Groomsmen in ivory as well as the bride, and the groom’s shirt was white (he insisted). It didn’t look right at all, but no one noticed until pictures of all of them together were taken.

I can’t post pics… wrong computer.. don’t have the pics on here… but I was worried too… I ended up getting the ivory vests and ivory shirts… the shirts were a lot lighter in person than they were on the mannequin in the shop (maybe it was just dirty!) and on the day.. There was no difference between my dress and the boys. My dress was a light ivory. For piece of mind… I brought the ivory pocket square that the shop gave me one of my dress fittings and was shocked at how the color matched… looking at the pocketsquare alone I would have sworn it would have been too dark.

Can’t find it *grumble*

But I compiled an entire explanation through photos. Here’s some of them.

Basically, I had the same question. My Fiance tried on an ivory shirt and it looked yellowish on its own. I did some research and found that when the groom is wearing all parts of the tuxedo, you can see the difference and when he’s standing next you in photos, you can REALLY see the difference.

Interesting, glad I came across this. At the shop where I got my dress, my consultant said I should do ivory vests with white shirts. She said ivory shirts looked dingy. I’m afraid the ivory ON white would look odd; she said no.

Would love to see more photos of guys in full attire with ivory vest on ivory shirts and/or ivory on white.

I hear this often from people who use places like Men’s Warehouse or other similar retaiilers. I don’t agree with them. I don’t like the ivory at all, I think it looks like dingy white rather than ivory. Also I think white makes grey look more crisp! i don’t have any pics now, but my fiance will be wearing an invory shirt in a wedding next week, so if this post is still around I will add a pic!

PS….your dress definitely won’t look dingy at ALL. It’s the weird ivory shirts that look dingy! You’ll be beautiful.

@DrDiane80:  I agree that ivory accents look good on white, but not the other way around. The ivory shirts look really dingy or stained.

I wore an ivory dress and my husband plus all the groomsmen wore white shirts. It looks fine in portraits, and with the low lighting in the reception, you can’t really even tell there’s a difference in candid shots.
