And I happen to be the flower girl’s mom, so I’m allowed to say that.
So my daughter is almost six, has cut her own hair twice previously, but the last time was when she was four, and we thought she’d learned her lesson.
Just this morning, 33 days before the wedding, she came out of her room… and she had cut her own bangs 3/4 of the way up her forehead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She looks completely. ridiculous.
And there isn’t anything I can do. There’s not enough time for it to grow back, so all our wedding pictures are going to have our daughter looking silly instead of incredibly cute like she normally does. I’M SO MAD (hence the title of this post!!!)
Just had to vent.

My daughter tried to give herself a braid this morning. She has crazy curly hair so that didn’t go over well. Fiance had to cut her elastic 4 times to get it out lol.
Do you like you could get her a cute head band so it will bring the bangs out of her face?

lol aw. I think every kid does that at some point… although maybe not 3 times. 🙂 I bet if you take her to get her hair done they can pin her bangs back in a way that you can’t tell they’re chopped!

Any chance taking her to a stylist could fix it some? I know when I cut my own hair when I was little, the hair stylist made it lok less goofy.

Oh no! Is there any way you can pin back the remainder of the bangs so it just looks like you put her hair up? No scissors for her anymore!

Those will probably be your favorite wedding pics in 20 years!
But I agree with the others, you can totally camouflage the damage if you want to, with a headband or by using pins.

Ha, this title made me laugh. I hope you can figure something out so she doesn’t look ridiculous (cut more hair into bangs to hide her monstrosity? I don’t know, just thinking). At least you’ll be able to ridicule her about this for the rest of her life, right?

Bangs grow pretty fast for me so although they might not be as long as you want them it won’t look as goofy as you think in a month. My flower girl (niece) cut her own hair too, but it was actually a chunk out of the side. I think it’ll turn out better than you think.

why does she have so much access to scissors?
i had pigtail braids… i chopped one of them off. my mom cried…

My daughter did this THREE DAYS before a wedding we were in! I too wanted to kill her. We ended up spending $$$ and getting a rhinestone and pearl headband to hide the bangs and the hair at the top of her hair we had to cover with extensions. At four years old we had to dye her hair for the first time! It was the only way to get it to match the extensions. I worried that it would damage her hair for life. LOL she has enough hair for 5 people now. I feel your pain and understand the anger 😀

@Ayslinn87: lol, I’m sooooo glad my daughter isn’t the only one who does this!!!!! (and can I add, be glad you don’t have three boys who attempt to give ‘hair cuts’? yeah, just be glad… my daughter ended up with a bald-ish spot due to my son and her two cousins/my nephews).
Get a cutesy headband and pull the hair back that way, or pin it back. You might also be able to get a stylist to trim them up to where they look better.
oooooorrrrrr….. you could give her a cute little birdcage veil (unless you’re wearing one?) that might be able to hide the bangs?
or maybe something like this: http://www.broadmoorflowers.com/proddetail.asp?prod=TF177-4

Yeah now that I’m getting over the mad and starting to breathe, a headband might work…. I think it would have to be a comb-style headband, so it pulls her short little bangs back and holds them… what do you think?
I could also make her a garland to go around her head, and pin her bangs up under that maybe???

@Zinzerena: omg I’ve been looking for something like this for my daughter!!!!

Oh no! I did the exact same thing when I was that age but it wasn’t before an important event. 😛 It can be disguised. I think they fixed mine by taking more hair and cutting it as bangs to hide the short hairs underneath. Take her to a stylist and see what they can do…and keep scissors in a locked drawer until the wedding! 😀

LOL! I hope that works. Be glad it was just that…my little cousin shaved off one of her eyebrows once. Not both, just one!
