When I was looking at dresses, I went to the pre-owned sites to see the pictures that brides posted of themselves in the gowns that interested me.  Most post actually wedding pictures.  You might want to do a few searches on those sites.

Good luck!

I’m wearing the JCrew Arabelle! It’s so beautiful and perfect. I tried on all the sample dresses at JCrew and liked a few, didn’t like a lot, but then I tried on the Arabelle and it was like it was made for me (in a sample size, ha).

The other night my mom had had a few glasses of wine and was describing the dress to her neighbor and she said very enthusiastically, “it’s like a tomboy dress.” I laughed out loud. It’s definitely not, very feminine and elegant, but my mom said that since the model is slumped and not smiling, it reminds her of when I was little and I went through a tomboy phase where I hated to wear dresses. My mom says I used to make the same facial expression as the Arabelle model whenever she would take a picture of me in a dress! 🙂

@miss popsicle: The great thing about JCrew is returns are easy. I’ve heard of brides who don’t live near one of the JCrew stores who order multiple dresses to try on and just send back the ones they don’t want for a full refund. I think you have 60 days to send it back.

Here is a picture of the Arabelle J crew dress. I ordered a size 0 and size 2. I kept the size 2 which was a little big and had it taken in at the sides.  I love this dress and am very happy with my choice.

@nikafay:

Ah!  I have been looking online for ages to see someone my size wearing the Arabelle dress.  I promise that I’m not a total perv, but do you have any more photos of you in the dress??  On the J Crew website, it kind of looks like the dress poofs out a bit at the empire waist and I can’t tell how that looks on a normal person with the models slouching in all the photos!!!

I’m from Texas but living in Austrlaia, so I really want to be sure the dress is 90% right before ordering it online and paying $$$ for shipping overseas.

Thanks so much in advance,

Sky

@Skymart:  Hi, the dress flares out a bit at the waist because it goes from being skin tight to free flowing. The skirt material is very light and blows nicely in the wind. I shortened my dress in the front only in order to have a bit of a train in the back (the dress was about 4 inches too long) here are some more pics.
