Does anyone know if the size chart on J. Crew is the same for all dresses (including wedding dresses). Here’s my situation: I’m usually a size 6-8, and I ordered my wedding dress in size 8 (at J. Crew), and it’s quite loose (I tried it on at the store, and she pinned a lot back but said it fit perfect?). My bridesmaid’s dresses are also from J. Crew, and I tried on my sister’s bridesmaid dress which is a size 6 and fit and felt perfect!
So, should I exchange my dress in turn for a size 6? The dress is the Silk Chiffon Arabelle and the bridesmaid dress is the Nanine. Does anyone know if the size chart is the same for every dress? Thanks

I had a jcrew wedding dress – the erica and my bms wore all cotton cady dresses. IMO the dresses are very accurate to street size. Also if you’ve ever bought dresses from them in the past the wedding dresses are sized the same. I’m normally a size 6 and I was a jcrew wedding size 6. It fit perfectly!!! well when I got it 9 months early and then lost weight! I’d return it and get a new one. It’s really easy to exchange and they’ll do it for free until its right!

Bust is the area on my J. Crew dress that threw me for a loop. It fit really tight on me for some reason, despite buying clothes from there all the time and knowing my size.
Before you exchange, I would get a tape measure out, go around the largest part of your bust and see how that matches up with the Size 6 on the chart. If you are larger than the size 6, stick with the size 8 and get it altered accordingly. In a strapless dress, the rest of the gown is really flowy and a size 6 will be fine if the bust fits right.

My BMs wore the Sophia dress in silk chiffon. It has a wide band uner the bust. because of that band, it was tight in my normal size 6. However, the size 8 would have been too large under the armpits and everywhere else. I think all my BMs ordered their normal size except for one who has an extremely large chest size. She ordered up and then got the dress altered.

Call J Crew’s wedding specialists. 1-800-205-3877. They should be able to tell you how each dress fits and can tell you the appropriate size. I’ve dealt with Tammy, ext. 53383 and she was wonderfully helpful.
