If anyone is looking for a dress in the south central Pennsylvania area, definitely give J&B Bridal a try. You can see their great reviews on the vendor area of this site (I can’t post there yet because I’m not married yet). I can’t say enough about how great my experience with them has been. They were the first, and as it turned out only, salon I went to. I’m a size 24 and needless to say, I was a bit anxious about the whole dress shopping experience. When I made the appointment I told them that I’m plus sized and that I was worried that they wouldn’t have a thing for me to try on. They assurred me that there were samples available to try in my size. Shortly after I made the appointment I received an email from Jackie, my consultant, asking me if there were any dresses in particular I wanted to try on or styles that they could try and get in for me. When I arrived she had a selection of dresses including two that I had specifically requested. Jackie is so friendly and helpful. She did a really nice job of easing my anxiety and helping me to really enjoy trying on and modeling the dresses. I just picked up the dress that ordered three months ago and it looks even better now. I can’t speak to quality of alterations because we’ve moved our date back a year so I won’t be having anything done to the dress for quite awhile. Becuase I live an hour away from the salon, they also gave me a list of seamstresses that they’ve worked with before. There are two or three in my hometown so I’ll probably get the work done locally. I thought it was a classy touch for J&B to provide references though.
I’ve seen quite a few threads about plus sized brides having less than wonderful experiences dress shopping so I just wanted to let any full figured bees in the central PA area know about this salon. They are located in Chambersburg by the way.
