I don’t think the baby food jars would be tacky at all. I’d save the 85$!

I’d save the $ too. I’m using baby food jars (for a different purpose) at our wedding. It’s such a great thing to do, recycle! 😀

Most people won’t notice at all and those that do will think it’s awesome that you’re reusing them. Go for it!

Could you just find new lids? I know a lot of canning places will sell you plain lids for jars. A lot of these are interchangable. See if you can get a sample and try it out!

You can dress the lids up even, but I don’t think it’s really going to matter. =)

I would wipe off the labels, obviously, and for the top of the lid where they print on it, you could buy Avery labels that are the right size for really, really cheap. You can either print them or use a cute stamp on them. That way guests would never find out :).

I don’t think it’s tacky either way though, it sounds practical!

Will this be sanitary and can they be appropriately sealed?

I was a little iffy about this idea at first. It could work as long as you sterilize the bottles completely first and make sure they are sealed properly. This person put a label on the top and glued ribbon along the lid where the name of the baby food completely would have been. Hope this helps.

Reusing the jar is fine. From a food safety perspective (as in making sure your guest don’t end up with food poisoning) you are going to have get new lids. Most commercial jars are not resealable. You will save lots of money by just purchasing the new lids! Good luck.
