Never been.  I went to Riu Tropical Bay in Negril and loved it in 2007 (not for honeymoon).  Also have friends that went to Couples in both Ocho Rios and Negril for honeymoon, and enjoyed it.

Negril is absolutely beautiful.  I drove through Monetgo Bay on the way to Negril.  The airport is in Montego Bay, so the location is good (Negril is over an hour away) but Negril is definitely more romantic.  Montego Bay is beautiful too though!

I would check the TripAdvisor forums and reviews for this property.  I love this website and always do tons of research on it prior to booking anything.

I was in negril last march and we are getting married there.  If you like huge all inclusive resorts I am sure you will like it, but I agree tripadvisor is the best place for candid reviews on specific resorts.  I would recommend looking at some of the resorts in ocho rios or negril (or even runaway bay) as those areas are a little more interesting to stay in than montego bay.

My only advice without having been to that resort is to make sure you are an ‘all inclusive’ resort type of person.  Generally that involves a big beatiful resort, lot of buffet style meals (which will include local cuisine) but generally not a lot of cultural immersion.  I have no issues with that – just saying make sure that is what you like! 🙂

We went to Couples Negril last month and drove past the Grand Palladium. It looked absolutely beautiful when we passed it. I would consider going there– our drive told us that it is the newest resort in Jamaica

We went to Secrets Wild Orchid in Montego Bay and had a fabulous time! AIs are, without a doubt, the way to go!

We honeymooned in Jamaica in a non-touristy area so no AIs there, but when we were asking our friends who’d been there where to go all seemed to recommend Negril over Montego Bay.  When we were in Jamaica the locals all called Montego Bay the concrete jungle but said Negril was a nice place to visit.

@nursein10:  We just got back two weeks ago from the Secrets resort in Montego Bay and we loved it.  The resort is still new (its only been open five or eight months or something).  The room was BEAUTIFUL (we had an ocean view) and the food and service was excellent!  They have an AWESOME (but not cheap!) spa and lots of activities.  Check it out!

I have stayed in both ocho rios and negril in both AI’s and non-AI’s.  I think they are both wonderful locations and both a little bit different.  I know the cruise ships dock near ocho rios, but there are a lot of fun excursions near ocho rios.  The dunns river falls, plantation tours, the blue mountains, bob marley tours etc.

Negril is fabulous but slightly more remote.  There are also waterfalls that are fabulous on that side of the island, and some jungle cruises, the appleton rum factory and the cliffs are amazing.  We spent more time just relaxing at negril – although a day trip to ocho rios area isn’t out of the question it is a long trip (2-3 hrs each way).  I think negril has more of range of unique hotel options (non-AI’s) than ocho rios.

Montego Bay is smack in the middle between ocho rios and negril and it is a large city for jamaica anyway!  But if you are in a large AI resort you probably wouldn’t notice that! 🙂

If you are staying in an all inclusive I would base your location choice on what types of activities you want to be close to as there are AIs for every budget in almost every major tourist location on the island.

Also – there are some very high end small all inclusive resorts throughout the island.  If you want a bit more seclusion at your resort itself you may want to check some of those out.
