We are thinking about going to Jamaica for our honeymoon, there really is no where else to go in January, haha. Maybe the Couples Negril thing, for example. For those that have been there, what did you guys do besides beach stuff?? I am asking because Fiance is not really “beach person” and I was thinking about potential activites outside of the obvious like lying on a beach everyday. I have never been to anywhere tropical or to a resort before so I am just curious. 🙂

@FutureMrsJohnston: We’re doing couples swept away, super excited!! Does he golf? They have activities at the resort, if you go online to the couples website you can check it out. Last time we were there we did an off site bar crawl, and had dinner at a few of the local resturants. You can go into town and go shopping, and also jump bwteen the the resorts that are close (couples negril and swept away) He might actually be a beach person once he gets to Jamaica. If the two of you have never been, it’s absolutely beautiful and amazing! Plus it’s not going to be so damn hot in January, perfect beach weather!!

We are going to Sandals in Negril in January – CAN’T WAIT!!!!

@FutureMrsJohnston: I didn’t go there for my honeymoon, but we did vacation there.
When you go, you MUST do Dunn’s River Falls. Its a 900 ft waterfall and it sounds hard, but its not. ITs very relaxing. You do the whole thing and you don’t even realize you are done. One of the guys in our group was at least 250 lbs, and not a fit 250 lol–and he was fine and having so much fun. Its actually very relaxing, you get to stop and take pictures in some parts of the mountain
You can also go swimming with Dolphins, sting rays etc. Whatever resort you staying at, they will have a list of outside excursions you can do.Negril is going to be nice, Negril and Ochios Rios has the nicest beaches

We went to couples negril and we love it, our second time there. Jamaica is great because there is something for everyone. Although we love laying around, we also did parasailing, and paddle boarding. We played pool volleyball everyday along with all the other activities they offered, which is a ton. Theres just so much to do.

We went sailing, snorkeling, horseback riding through the water, kayaking.. Most everything was beach related but we deaf weren’t just lying around on the beach

@FutureMrsJohnston: I didn’t go to Jamaica for my honeymoon, just went on vacation last month with Fiance. There is a coffee plantation that does tours called Blue Mountain (FI LOVES coffee). Dunn’s River Falls was awesome- make sure you walk up the waterfall- we did the trip with a booze cruise catamaran ride with a comapny called Cool Runnings- I definitely recommend it. We also went scuba diving together for the first time- it’s much cheaper in Jamaica than in the US and it was amazing. Fiance is certified. but I had never been before. I liked it so much we squeezed in 2 more dives before we left! There is a place called Blue Water that is supposed to be cool- it was kinda far from us (Runaway Bay), but I think it’s fairly close to Negril. They also have places like Bob Marley’s house and plantations were you can go on tours. They also have a rain forest and zip lines and one place has a bobslef roller coaster. Lots of beach activities- snorkling, wind surfing, kayaking, etc.

@Daizy914: agree with Dunn’s River falls! I didn’t honeymoon their but went on a trip and this was by far one of the coolest things I’ve ever done, not just including on that trip. Worth it, but the street vendors can be very pushy. Just be polite and say no!
@The_Future_KB: Agreed. Jamaica is a ver y poor country and pushy is not even the word.
LoL its way beyond that. Try not to bring your valuables with you. Don’t carry too much cash with you, just take what you think would be suitable. Most important, have fun and be safe

@FutureMrsJohnston: Um I had all of these great plans I spent 10 days eating jerk chicken and drinking at the pool bar. I did manage to go for a walk on 7 mile beach (in Negril) and got to eat fresh caught lobster. Oh and I went on a booze cruise and ate at some of the local restaurants.
There are some awesome restaurants in Negril- please check them out!
3 dives (jerk anything)

I did couples Tower Isle for our honeymoon last month and it was incredible! Unlike the other Couples resorts the beach is completely private and no vendors are allowed to come on the property. There are two nights during the week where at dinner the vendors set up somewhere where you can shop incase you missed something while out locally shopping. We did Dunns River falls, played tennis, shopped, did the catamaran booze cruise, kyaked, ate, drank, swam, had massages and lay on the beach. It was relaxing and busy all at the same time. I HIGHLY recommend couples. They have outstanding food.. best at any inclusive I’ve seen.. and the people are amazing. We met many couples who return yearly or bi-annually. The only thing that wasn’t great was the two hour ride from the airport but we would do it again in a heartbeat! 🙂

We stopped in Jamaica for a day on our cruise — and I’m going to agree with everyone else and say Dunn’s River Falls! AMAZING. We also toured a historic plantation to get a bit of history while we were there, and it was amazing!
