I haven’t been to the DR, but I went to Negril last year and it was hands down the most beautiful beach I have ever seen. The sand is beautiful, no seaweed, water is warm and clear. I could go on and on. The one thing I didn’t like was that you do see a lot of poverty and vendors can be pushy – but I wasn’t at an all-inclusive, and I heard that isn’t as much of an issue at the resorts.

@casjojo:  i honestly couldn’t find a difference in their descriptions except that Couples Swept Away seemed to have more activities. Since we were only going for 4 days, we decided to go to Couples Negril because it was slightly cheaper and we didnt have time for more activities!  However, once i was there, i saw there was SO much to do, i can only imagine being at Couples Swept Away for a week and still not getting to do everything!  if you are anything like me, you will also  just want some time to chill and relax on the beach!!

I thought the beaches in Punta Cana, DR were prettier than the beaches I’ve seen around Jamaica.  The food was better in Jamaica though.  I really didn’t care for much of the food in DR.  DR is usually cheaper and I’d say there are a few more activities around Jamaica.  Jamaican people were also friendlier than in the DR.
