mrswells2017 :  I’m getting married in Jamaica next February. It’s expensive..
It depends on the time of year but if money is an issue Mexico will always be cheaper.

If you choose a good resort, both places are beautiful. I chose Jamaica because I feel like everyone does Mexico and I wanted it to be different.

Check out all the all-inclusive resorts in Jamaica! Sandals is a good one, there are a few (Montego Bay, Negril, Ochos Rios). I don’t personally know of any all-inclusive resorts in Mexico. If it’s just you and your fiance, you should check out Sandals. They have a “weddingmoon” where you pay for a vacay and they marry you for free πŸ™‚

Mexico is cheaper. If you go there I recommend the Riviera Maya area. Personally, I prefer Jamaica between the two. It depends on what you plan to do on your trip and whether budget is a major concern. Edit: Sorry meant to add I’ve been to Secrets Maroma in Riviera Maya and Secrets Wild Orchid in Montego Bay. With all-inclusive resorts I stay in strictly adult only properties.

mrswells2017 :  we will be getting married in Jamaica march 2018. we went with Couples Swept Away in Negril and i can not wait. Our travel agaent was so excited to reccomend this resort and shortly after booking we found out a good friend of ours has been there on vacation. She had nothing but great things to say about the place and is super excited that we chose that resort.

we will be eloping just the two of us and wanted somewhere we could relax and have fun depending on our mood each day. This particular resort includes a bunch of fun activiites such as scuba diving, snorkeling , sunset catamran cruises ETC….

Good luck searching for your perfect place! make sure you let us know what you decide on.

mrswells2017 :  if you are sticking to the resort and major tourist spots, it’s not dangerous at all. There are areas of Kingston and Montego Bay that have high crime rates, but it wont be anywhere near the resorts.

mrswells2017 :  Yeah,  stinks!! We do think it was something we ate, but not at the restort. We went out on an excursion 1 of the days and got sick the day after. So we are thinking it was that.

Check out the OCCIDENTAL XCARET hotel in the Mayan Riviera, Mexico.

We travel, a lot, and this was BY FAR the best resort we’ve ever stayed at. If it’s only the two of you the resort isn’t very pricey, especially if you go at certain times of year. Friendly staff here make all the difference.

The wedding packages are super cheap here, and are just stunning. There is A gazebo on a little cliff overlooking the ocean, which is one of several places to do a ceremony there. We saw a few weddings while we were here, there’s also a spot under a waterfall to do It, the beach, and a gazebo overtop of a little pond. The spaces are endless, and gorgeous 😊

Just check it out, I promise you won’t be disappointed 😁😁

Also, we’ve done both Jamaica and Mexico, and for us, Mexico wins hands down 😊

mrswells2017 :  I did a study abroad in Mexico and didn’t get sick once. Try not to let that scare you away from Mexico! It’s a beautiful country.

We did an elopement ceremony on our honeymoon for just the two of us. It was a perfect day. We stayed at the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall, and I can’t wait to go back. It was a dream! The ceremony was free because it was just the two of us. We paid for rose petals but it was so windy they just blew around. We paid for the arch, our photographer, my bouquet, and a private candlelight dinner on the beach.

I think it cost us around $1,000. Our trip cost $7,500 plus tips and souvenirs (minimal). So we probably spent close to $9,000 on the whole thing. We did stay in a top-level room though and flew from Canada, so that adds significantly to the price. We stayed for 10 days. A lot of people we spoke to from the US paid less than half of what we paid for the same trip. It was completely worth it though!
