I agree with many of the PP’s.  We stayed in Negril, where the beaches are gorgeous and we visited Ocho Rios!

We are going to Sandals Montego Bay. The beaches are the biggest here and I haven’t heard as many complaints about sand fleas.  Prices are a bit lower here so we can do the butler villa if we decide to.  I’ve read this resort has a bunch of action or can be very private/relaxing. Depending on what you’d like. It’s close ot the airport.. like ON the airport.. but most say after day 1 it doesn’t bother you. The biggest reason I’m sold on MoBay is that basically it’s 4 hours more on the resort than if I traveled to one of the others.

I’ve only been to Ocho Rios, so I can only tell you about that, but I loved it!  We climbed the Dunn’s River Falls and it was such a cool experience. Sure there are lots of people there climbing too, but you are climbing the only remaining river for which the town (Ocho Rios, meaning 8 rivers, even though there were only 4), was named for. You are in the middle of the jungle climbing too, so you can see what it’s like if you look through the trees.  Although the vendors there are VERY aggressive, but that might be the same throughout all of Jamaica.

I also did a cake exploring trip there.  We toured the underground lakes, and saw where slaves crawled through to escape to the beach!

There’s also a Hard Rock Cafe if that changes your mind.

I’ve only been to Ocho Rios ports from being on cruises – but we were immediately hustled & bustled. They were trying to get us to follow them into alleys and kept telling us how they got something special for us to come see … drugs. BUT. I wouldnt rule it out if not many people havent said that. Like i said, it was just day time activities from cruise ports. But resorts could be different! I have heard wonderful things about Montego Bay!

we just did our family trip to negril through riu last april, and i wasn’t overly impressed. perhaps a different resort would be better.

our last jamaica trip we went to breezes in runaway bay and LOVED it! i’d go back there.

I am a Jamaican and i live here, i would recommmend you choose an all inclusive, whether you go to Montego Bay, Negril or Ocho Rios.

Montego Bay is indeed a very busy city, but where the hotels are located are nice and quite.  Should you decide to go Negril the beaches are very nice and the sunset is breath taking.

Just remember choose an All inclusive, once you are in an all inclusive you are always on property, Private and relaxing just what you need on your honey moon, the hagglers on the street wont hassle you there.

    Wishing you all the best.

@ashron  If we stay in Negril is it possible to go to Dunn’s River? Or some other attractions?

Secrets in Montego Bay is amazing. I have stayed in their resorts in Mexico as well, best all inclusive hands down.
