I’m looking at some loose diamonds on James Allen and they seem reasonable. Anyone have pics of their rings/diamonds from James Allen or have any expereinces they’d like to share? How long did it take to come in and how was customer service? Is ordering a ring/diamond on the internet safe?
Share your James Allen experiences and pictures!!!!

They have competitively priced loose diamonds. We ordered my GIA diamond through them, but I have not heard great things about their settings so I got my halo and band hand forged from a designer custom made. The diamond photos are pretty detailed and i would definitely recommend buying diamonds and rings in general online! Pricing and quality are way better than any mall or chain store. I did not really like any particular local jewelers around here.

Yes, I am planning on getting a loose diamond and setting it in a setting from a local custom jeweler in town. Do you have a picture of your diamond? What are the specs?

My engagement ring is from James Allen. I wasn’t involved in purchasing the diamond or the setting but my fiancé and I are very happy with the quality of both.
I have a plain yellow band with a platinum head and a solitaire so I can’t speak to the quality of a pave setting or a halo.
My band is one they only list for round diamonds but they were able to make a platinum head for my emerald cut.
While we’re very happy with my ring, when I mentioned possibly getting my wedding band from James Allen my fiancé told me he didn’t love their customer service. He was emailing back and forth for over a week and while he got what he wanted, he wasn’t happy with their responses.

2.5 carat emerald cut diamond, f color, vvs2 clarity, very good cut (highest for an emerald cut, GIA does not grade fancy cuts as excellent) and faint flourescence. It’s been on my finger for a month and has never been cleaned but it’s still gorgeous.

Oh wow, that is beautiful!!! I’m looking at emerald and radiant cuts because the rectangular shape looks best on my long bony fingers. I also like the yellow gold. Gorgeous!

So happy with James Allen!!
Pricing is fantastic. My diamond is basically perfect – cut colour the lot. Fiance was very adamant about that (all the numbers!)
I adore my setting its exactly what I wanted. 14k Rose Gold vintage style
Fiance was initially sceptical about going online but had a great sales rep who helped him alot. The ring comes in a ring box which comes in a huge box with a drawer containing all the certificates including certified duplicates.
I will be puchasing the matching band and looking at the mens rings for fiance as well. We highly recommend it!!
Im a size 6.5 Ring is a 14k Rose Gold Filigree Pave setting. It looks very secure, 4 claw prongs. 38x 0.17ct addiitonal diamonds.
Centre stone Round Brilliant 1ct Colour I Clarity IF
– You choose your loose diamond from them and they reocmmend certain sizes and shapes for their settings to assist, lots of pics too. !

I haven’t purchased a loose diamond from James Allen, but I have a platinum and diamond flush-set band that came from them. My husband picked it out to work as a “set” with my 15th anniversary ring, so I’ve had the band for about 4 or 5 years. It was my Christmas present that year.
At the time he ordered the ring, I was in the process of losing weight, and I had changed ring sizes. My husband didn’t know this, and he ordered my old size. When the band came, it didn’t fit. The problem is that it is an eternity band, which meant JA couldn’t resize it. My husband called them to check, and they said they would have to remake the band. They had no problem doing so, and also no problem with us returning the ring. So they were already allowing us to return the band and basically “switch” it out with a new band at no charge. But we were in the midst of the Christmas shipping rush/mess at the time. We had already missed the deadline for ordering the band in order to get it in time for Christmas. My husband explained to the customer service representative that the band was my only Christmas gift, and he was afraid I would have nothing to open on Christmas because of his mistake in ordering the wrong size. The customer service rep took his name and number, but she told him there was really nothing she could do.
Okay. This really was all right. Because we are adults and something like that isn’t going to ruin the togetherness and love of the holidays for any of us. And I thought it was so sweet of my husband to care enough to try and get the replacement. Plus, it was sweet of him to pick out the band! We went ahead and sent the too-big band back.
But … on Christmas Day, there was a James Allen box sitting under the tree for me. And my new band was in it. And it was the right size!! It seems the customer service rep got in touch with the manufacturing side of the business and they rushed a new band for me, including sending it overnight at no extra cost. Just so it would be at our house in time for the holiday.
I was beyond impressed. Best customer service experience ever! (Edit: Sorry this was such a long story!)

I recently purchased a diamond and ring, and it couldn’t have gone smoother. Customer service was very friendly. I knew exactly what I wanted so I didn’t need to speak with them a lot, but the contact I did have was great.
They gave me a date that it should ship. A day later they informed me that they needed to make a new wax model to accomodate my diamond, and it would add 6 days to the timeline. They ultimately had it in my hands about 3 days sooner than they had said!
The ring itself is spotless, everything is symetrical. I was also hoping to get my ring during one of their 25% off sales, but the CS lady said, they are not told when the next sale will be so she couldn’t say for sure. However, she told me that if they put them on sale within 30 days of your purchase, all you have to do is call them, and ask for a partial refund. I also used my 100.00 off first time buyer coupon, but they do not use both, they use the higher of the two, in total. It was handled right away no trouble at all.
You have to sign for your package and they tell you that right up front. In my case, they overnighted FedEx guaranteed delivery next day by noon (it’s the same as the 10:30 am delivery, but I am in a “remote” area, so it’s noon for us). So, they told me it shipped and by noon next day I had it!
Based on my experience I highly recommend them. The diamond is even more beautiful than the video too!

I have a 1.90 ct G SI1 ideal cut round diamond. The inclusions are just twinning wisps so even under magnification they’re hard to see. Here is a photo of my set. I felt the price was really good for the diamond being slightly under the 2 ct mark.lbqueen15 :

I’ve made several purchases from JA – both rings and loose diamonds. All have been great experiences, which is why I’ve been a repeat customer. Aside from their excellent customer service, they’re one of the few large online sellers that provide Idealscope and ASET imaging so you can assess cut performance. They also have an easy upgrade process as well. I’ve used it on a couple occasions and am actually expecting my new upgraded e-ring to arrive tomorrow! Here’s my former 2.3ct that was traded in…
