My e-ring is from James Allen and I love it. My husband was happy with their customer service. He purchased a stone  but changed his mind after a couple of days/weeks (I don’t know exactly he only mentioned that he bought an I color but overheard me saying that an I was not my color and therefore looked some more and chose another G color stone)

I can’t say anything about their halo/diamond settings but I love my solitaire. The prongs are amazing. Almost invisible and also ver dainty from beneath/side view. And it’s set as low as possible which I believe is pretty and practical

I just believe the are a bit stingy with their rhodium plating. It came off fairly quickly twice. Then I had it dipped at a local bench jewelers and they did it quickly and thoroughly and it holds up way way better

My fiancé looked both online and in stores and ended up purchasing my diamond from James Allen. He said that the process was so smooth and it came right on time! He took the diamond to a jeweler to have it set because he was sketched out by some reviews that he read in regards to the settings. My diamond is a .70, excellent cut, H color, and IF clarity on a size 7 finger. We took the diamond to an appraiser and he told us that JA was just bought out by Kay Jewelers so it’s a reputable source. He appraised it for almost 3x more than what my fiancé paid for it! Pictures don’t do this beauty any kind of justice. Happy shopping and best of luck finding the perfect diamond! 😊

MiaSuperstar :  hi, did you ask them to do the claw prongs or was that a part of the setting?!

lbqueen15 :

my wedding band came from James Allen.  It’s perfect and I love it.  However, the shipping was a problem.  They told me it would arrive on one day, and I was ready, but it arrived two days later, and interfered with my work schedule.  I had to make arrangements to have someone home to sign for the package

Edited to add: they asked me for a review. I gave the ring five stars, but complained about the delivery.  They deleted my review.

We upgraded my stone about 6 months ago and bought from James Allen. We were very happy with the stone! And it was about 2k less than the stone we saw at the local jeweler, and better specs! The setting is not from there though. I think it took about a week in the mail.

lbqueen15 :  Lol it’s hilarious that this thread got bumped to the front page.

I literally just created a thread complaining about how James Allen refused to work with me on a custom ring design because I wanted to source a center stone from somewhere else. They didn’t really give any sort of logical reason for it.

Like I said in my thread, I’ll be fine and get my ring made somewhere else since so many jewelers do custom work with a client-sourced stone.

But this response seems ridiculous to me especially since 1) they do set stones in their settings that are sourced by the customer (whether an heirloom or sourced from somewhere else), 2) they allegedly do custom work, and 3) I was expecting to have to shell out a good chunk of money for this (I didn’t have any sort of limited budget). I guess I don’t really have a purchase history from JA so I don’t know what it’s like to actually work with them, but the fact that they refused to work with me with no real reason given left a bad taste in my mouth.

derrsley :  I would actually be very wary of Kay, Zales, Jared, and JA now after reading this story while researching engagement ring stores. I am not sure I’d want to take the risk that this might happen to me.

l3obee :  Deleting reviews is completely appalling.

I’m starting to think it’s a blessing in disguise I won’t be working with JA after all. I actually feel better lol.

lbqueen15 :  I highly recommend going over to Pricescope and making a thread asking for advice on buying a loose diamond. They will help you find the best diamond, and they can also give you feedback about the pros and cons of each vendor. For instance Whiteflash has a killer upgrade policy.

I’ve had two beautiful GIA diamonds(a first …then a trade in/upgrade) and several rings from James Allen. Zero complaints(nothing shoddy or defective w/the settings etc…no disappointments in the stones) Their settings are pretty simple in general but I love my ring. AFAIK customer service is great (I explained to my DH what I wanted and he handled the rest.)

My ring is from James Allen. I couldn’t be happier with it. I got the falling edge pave setting in platinum, and a sapphire (8×6 mm center stone). I was set on a sapphire, but wanted a lighter color, not the navy blue commonly found in jewelry stores. I love that I could pick exactly the stone I wanted. The prices were so much better than anything comparable we could find in store.

The ring took 2.5 weeks from order to delivery, and was delivered on the exact date they gave me. I contacted customer service twice (once to change the size, once to verify ship date). They were responsive and helpful. The ring and experience far exceeded our expectations.

Finger is 7.5, for reference.

MiaSuperstar :  I may have already asked you on a different thread, so I’m sorry if that’s the case, but do you have any photos of the profile/side view of your ring? I’ve been eyeing that setting for *ages* 🙂

I don’t know how to rotate the photo (if anyone can share that would be great… technology isn’t my strong suit).

My ring is from JA. I wasn’t involved in the ordering process but my finace was very happy with the customer service and I LOVE my ring. I get tons of compliments on it and it’s super sparkly. It’s 1.2 ct oval on their 18K petite pave cathedral setting. We’ll probably use them for wedding bands too.

katyacat :  well, you gave me a good reason to clean my ring a bit. With all the cold weather comes a lot of hand cream. You can see the wear and tear from my wedding band. Beware of the shared prong rings (exposed girdle). That’s a pain. I wear my ring 24/7 though. So it looks like it I guess

here come the pictures for you
