TeresaMarie: My center stone is a D color. I believe the stones in the halo are F-G color. I’m sure James Allen customer service will work with you until you’re totally happy with the ring!

I ordered a 1.51 carat round brilliant G color si1 clarity with very good cut from JamesAllen.com and we literally paid half of what a local jeweler quoted us. Highly recommended! I won’t get my ring back from being set until Wednesday but here’s a picture of the diamond laying in the setting. It’s reflecting my pink cell phone case.

James Allen all the way! My fiancé & I picked the diamond & setting together. When he proposed there were 3 diamonds in the halo that were dull under dim lighting, so I contacted JA about it. We were still in our 60 days return period, so they sent us a free shipping label to have it sent in for repairs. We were nervous how it would come out afterwards, but within 2 weeks we received the ring back & it was absolutely beautiful. Their customer service was great & they made sure the ring will not have any other problems. We were nervous how the ring & customer service would be like because it was online. I’m glad we went with them. Their quality is absolutely beyond what we experienced in local stores. They are willing to go the extra mile to please their customers than those local stores, who are sometimes pushy & disrespectful when you try to address your concerns. Here is my JA ring. 0.91 oval set in a floral platinum halo setting.

Our order was placed at the end of August with an ETA of two weeks. To date, we haven’t received the ring, yet my fiancé’s credit card has been charged! Furthermore, James Allen cannot provide an ETA.
Two weeks after placing our order, James Allen informed us the diamond we ordered didn’t have the GIA inscription as stated on the report. James Allen didn’t know why, but speculated the inscription must have been removed during the polishing/cleaning process. Our options:
1.) Select a different diamond.
2.) Accept the diamond as is with an inaccurate GIA report and proceed with the order. **NOT A REASONABLE OPTION IN OUR OPINION.
3.) Send the diamond back to GIA to have the GIA report changed stating it is a non-inscribed diamond.
4.) Send the diamond back to GIA for inscription and updated report.
After viewing other diamond options provided by James Allen (JA), we preferred our original diamond selection. Whether we had the report updated or the diamond inscribed AND the report updated to match the stone, JA claimed it would take the same amount of time. We Decided on option 4, get the stone inscribed and an updated report.
With no ETA and multiple apologies from JA, needless to say, we are beyond frustrated. I found a local jeweler and their rings are calling my name. James Allen assures me that it is worth the wait. But of course, right? (A little sarcasm….sorry/not sorry)
This beautiful experience has turned into a frustrating experience. Part of me wants to wait it out and another part says let’s cancel and buy locally. ughhh…
That, ladies and gentlemen is our experience with James Allen thus far.

TeresaMarie : I’m not a lady, but I bought a diamond from James Allen and I’m happy with it! However, if you even remotely think you might be upgrading your stone in 5 or 10 years I would say to purchase elsewhere. Their upgrade policy requires you to spend two times as much money in order to trade your stone in. Whiteflash has a much better policy, as does Brian Gavin. Also, if shopping at James Allen, stay with AGS and GIA graded stones. I know it’s tempting to stray because the other stones will cost less but you can’t trust the grading reports in the same way.

I did not order from James Allen due to false advertising on the placement of their prongs.
On the main display image they are in different locations/less but your main ring image looks completely different. Absolutely stupid.

I went with Shaneco in my city. My fiance doesnt feel comfortable purchasing such an expensive purchase online. I have to say the diamond at Shaneco is pricier than online but our purchase came with free appraisals, lifetime warranty. You can also search online on their website for diamonds you like and have it shipped to the store nearest to you. They will replace any diamonds (including your large stone) for free if you bring it in every six months for free cleaning, maintenance and the lost was due to their workmanship. My fiance and I like that we can drive to the store, get our ring maintained and verify my diamond with the microscope at the store. It is fast (less than 30 mins), convenient, and no need to worry about lost diamond in the mail or switched diamond, The staff do not make commissioned, but spent 3 hrs lookiing at diamond with me. For us, the peace of mind was worth the extra money.
Oh, and for upgrade you only need to spend one more dollar than your original purchase!! Your ring, diamond retain their value and cost at Shaneco.

My Fiance and I went with James Allen and we couldn’t be happier. We got way more diamond for our budget. It was a bit stressful at the time, but all that melted away when the ring arrived. We got a 1.3, GIA certified ideal cut H color VS1 stone. Everything we saw within budget locally was right around 1 ct with similar cut and color, and even lower clarity!
Full disclosure, we did run into a hiccup when JA notified us about a week after our order was placed that our original stone had a feather flaw that jeopardized the stone during mounting, so we had to choose another. That added about 2 weeks to the order, one week for us to settle on another stone and one more for them to complete the ring and get it to us. But that kind of issue is not exclusive to James Allen and can just as easily happen with a local jewler.
My bottom line is the deal, way more diamond for the money! These pics don’t do it justice, crappy phone camera. But I can tell you it is a sparkle beast IRL, and I get compliments on it all the time! I would recommend James Allen to anyone.

I’ve bought several diamonds from JA, and I have several setting made by them as well, both simple and elaborate, and I’ve bought 3 wedding bands from them.
Overall the products and experience has been fine. Their diamond shopping experience is second to none, visually. Their bands are dirt cheap. Their customer service is good.
Next time I’ll go the designer route, however. I’m bored of the cookie-cutter settings.
