We got a just under half carat diamond from James Allen for $1000 – VS1, H, excellent cut. Just got it appraised at a local jeweler, valuing the diamond for $2500. Not bad! The jeweler even congratulated us on going with James Allen because apparently they’re known for getting the best deals on diamonds.

My center stone is 0.5 ct VS1 F cushion cut, it was I believe just under $900 when we bought it. I didn’t look comparably, but the jewelry stores around here were so devoid of cushion cuts that I doubt I would have found anything comparable.

There customer service is some of the best I’ve ever encountered. You can talk to them any day of the week, at anytime. It’s amazing. My e-ring is from JA and it’s beautiful. It appraised for 3k more than Fiance paid for it.
Center stone: 1.07 ct, SI2, Excellent cut, I color

kendal133: well thank you! It’s 2.4 mm. I love that it’s substantial enough to feel hardy but still dainty looking.

We did!

1 ct, tension setting. My ONLY gripe is that I chose white gold instead of platinum to save money, but now it looks kinda dull. I’m not sure if that can be fixed/replated/whatever, but I’m in love with my ring.
EDIT: This picture makes the diamond look dull and lifeless, but it’s actually really shiny.

elienne: You can totally get the white gold redipped – any local jeweler should be able to do it for cheap!
