Not sure how you would feel about it but James Allen allows you to send your own stone in and they will set in the setting for you. I believe there is a small fee to do this.

I think your cheaper option is to send pics to David Klass and see if he can create something for you. Pretty much all jewelers offer that setting.

It’s true that only some James Allen settings are able to be set with an outside stone, but I think the route you’re going will be unnecessarily expensive. I reached out to them about a stone I had and it was going to be a minimum of $230 to set it ($100 setting fee, $100 large stone fee, and $30 for shipping).

Edit: maybe I read your OP wrong, but are you not willing to send your stone in to be set? That setting is able to be set with an outside stone…

Honestly I don’t find anything outstandingly unique about that setting. Just about everywhere has a setting like that. I wouldn’t pay to have it sent with a wrong sized sapphire just to then pay to have another jeweler reset a different head and mount a stone in it.

Go to your jeweler and see if they can help you. Or look around more.

kelleyc35 :  I second just going to DK or another jeweler to get it custom.  David Klass has such reasonable prices (I’d guess he would do that setting for you for cheaper than any of those).  He sends drawings beforehand and you can have a wax mold of it sent to you so you can see proportions on your finger.  His pave bands are also incredible.  His craftsmanship can’t be beat.

kelleyc35 :  Just know that if you buy a ring from JA (stone or not), and have it reset somewhere else, it will void your warranty with them (though I’m sure they would still be willing to help you with any issue, but you won’t have the security of their warranty). Also, be sure that what you love about this ring is reflected in the customer photos. A lot of JA’s rings look a little different in their stock photos. The thing I liked about my pave ring from JA is not noticeable in person like it is in their stock photo. This was my only complaint with them, otherwise they are great!

If I could do it over again, I would have sent my stone into DK like someone has already suggested and gotten exactly what I wanted.
