We are getting married 1.2.10 and looking to fly out for our honeymoon the next day or or 2 days later. We were trying to think of something to do thats different. We would like to do more of a adventure type honeymoon along with a few days relaxing. I found some package for Costa Rica that would have us ziplining in the jungle, sleeping in a cute cottage type thing up in the trees, flying to different part of the country and having a spa type experince as well. Then we were thinking maybe of doing a african safari, I think this would be SO amazing and different but also A LOT more money! Sunnyman deploys a month or two after our wedding, i know no matter what we do it will be special, but i just want to take that trip that we will never forget. Has anyone been to Costa Rica or Africa? Any recommendations? Heck, we are up for anywhere actually. Any suggestions???

I would LOVE to go to Costa Rica. I’ve never been to South America and it is high, high, high on my list of regions to visit.
I lived in South Africa for a few years (am getting married there, too) and I can vouch for the beauty and awe factor of Africa. It really does feel like the homeland of all mankind!
I hear you on the cost of safaris, though — I was just looking online today for my Bridesmaid or Best Man who wants to go to the Okavango Delta & Chobe in Botswana and I was flabbergasted at how much they charge! The good news is there are alternatives. You can self-drive and book into lodges inside game parks for way less than an organized tour provider charges. Or, for some reason Kruger National Park in South Africa tends to be way less expensive than other game reserves around the continent — check these out:
