PrincessPeach13 : We are in the San Francisco area and our DJ is $1,600 for a January wedding. However, we are required to use the DJ that works with our venue so I am not sure if this is the average cost for the area.

I’m a June bride in the Pacific Northwest, but we’re paying $600 for our DJ. ETA We don’t need any uplighting or anything else, our DJ is just helping with announcing a few things, keeping the flow, and playing music. We will also do karaoke at the end of the reception.

We hired a DJ that typically is well known for doing weddings for our engagement party this Saturday. $4,500 for 6 hours in Newport Coast, CA.
Personally, I think you can get a great DJ at any price point, it will just take some searching. We had to be picky with ours because we wanted the DJ to be familiar with both cultures and customs. Had it not been for that criteria, I dont think we would of spent that much. I found some great DJs that quoted $1,500, but it unfortunately did not work out.
