Welcome to the January infertility board! As a reminder, this board is for people who have been TTC 12+ months (under age 35), 6+ months (over 35) or are treating for a fertility issue. A few months ago we did away with the “POAS” because we recognize that we are all at different stages and many things have to happen before we even get to the POAS point. These boards have been a great source of support and knowledge for me and I hope they are for you too.

Your age/partner’s age: 31/36
Baby #: 1
Cycles TTC: since September 2018
Known fertility issues: PCOS, hypothyroidism, possible lining issue
Previous fertility treatment?: loads, but IVF in September-October 2020.
What are you doing this month (transfer, beta, IUI, retrieval)?: Hopefully my lining will cooperate so I can do an ERA
Key dates (POAS, beta, transfer): Not sure yet! Depends on when my cycle starts. Your guess is as good as mine
Just for fun: What’s your personality type? (Myers Briggs, enneagram, Buzzfeed quiz, whatever) ISTJ, enneagram type 1. No question.
IDK about you all, but I am SO READY for 2021. I’m always kind of a sucker for new starts and new years resolutions (see personality type above) but this year in particular. I definitely thought 2020 would be “our year” for pregnancy and it clearly wasn’t, so I’m trying not to dwell on that. I met with my new endocrinologist today and she increased my thyroid medication. I’m glad I have a doctor to focus solely on my thyroid issues, so that feels like a step in the right direction.

Has anyone else had a hard time on birth control? (I’ve never been on birth control in the past.) I’m taking Nortrel before starting injections, and it’s been making me really sick to my stomach. I’ve been taking it in the evening on a full stomach and trying to sleep through the worst of it, but it’s not going great! I’m struggling with diarrhea, severe nausea, and vomiting every night.
I know this is supposed to be the easy part, so I’m getting nervous about everything else ahead. My body also reacted very sensitively to Clomid (ovulated waaaay too early on it), so idk if my body just wigs out on medication in general.

@enjoy: oh yikes, I’m sorry! I wonder if they could switch you to a low-estrogen type or something. I haven’t experienced that… my body tends to be fairly oblivious to medications.

@enjoy: My body also tends to be pretty oblivious to medications, but estrogen made me super nauseous. Does that birth control pill have estrogen? Maybe you could switch to a different one? I was on sprintec before my retrieval and I had no side effects from it at all.

@KittyYogi: @DogsAndWine: it does contain estrogen, so that’s a good idea! thank you! I’ll see how tonight goes and ask them if I’d be able to switch without further delaying the rest of the cycle.

Jinxed myself by roll calling – looks like I’m ovulating today so IUI won’t happen since the clinic is closed the next three days for the holiday. Bummer.

ROLL CALL
Your age/partner’s age: 36/40
Baby #: 1
Cycles TTC: Since 2018
Known fertility issues: Extreme male factor so we are using a sperm donor. I also had fibroid surgery in 2016
Previous fertility treatment?: 3 failed IUIs, one round of IVF that resulted in two PGS nromal embryos, first embryo miscarried, and I’m likely miscarrying the second one now
What are you doing this month (transfer, beta, IUI, retrieval)?: We will do a post-mortem with our RE this month and figure out how to proceed. Between the refund we’ll get for not having a live birth and our HSA’s we’ll have a good chunk of change to spend on treatment this year. First I’ll get all of my labs redone to see where my FSH and AMH are and then we’ll either do some IUI’s to take a break from IVF or we’ll move into embryo adoption or donor eggs if we don’t think I have enough eggs left.
Key dates (POAS, beta, transfer): None yet
Just for fun: What’s your personality type? INFJ, Ennagram type 9
