olivejd:  It turns out that Wegman’s organic brand is Whole30 compliant (at least the vegetable stock is – I’m not sure the chicken was). I’ll take a look at Swanson’s – the type sold at Aldi was not compliant. Hunt’s tomato sauce (regular, not No Salt Added) also worked! I found a compliant salad dressing, too, which is easier than making it.

ribbonsandbling:  Yep – that’s exactly what I did. I did maybe 80% of our list at Aldi’s, then finished up at Wegmans.

olivejd: No, but that sounds delicious! I’ll look it up, thanks ๐Ÿ˜€

ValAsInVal:  There are actually reasons for everything you aren’t supposed to eat. In short, becasue it’s not good for you. If you are interested in trying it again, I recommend reading the book, or at the very least, the program guidelines.

Well, I already screwed up! I forgot that I couldn’t eat peanuts, and had some this morning because I Didn’t have time for breakfast and was in a crunch. Luckily, it won’t be hard to start over from 9 AM… Salad for lunch, and something right from the Whole30 book for dinner. Whoops!

alynn91:  I’m sure you’ll get right back on track!

Is anyone else getting headaches? This is Day 3 for me, and the third day of headaches (though today is the worst thus far). Granted, I’m prone to headaches anyway, but I’m wondering if it’s sugar-related (as in, I’m used to having more sugar).

LadyBear:  Today is day one and I have had a headache for about an hour. I am also prone to headaches, but usually by this time of day, I have already had plenty of sugar due to the flavored creamer I put in my coffee. Today, black coffee only and have had no added sugars, so I think my headache might be sugar related.

My SO are doing it! This is our second January Whole 30, and definitely needed after the holiday junk we ate! Plus, we’re heading to St Thomas in February, so gotta get bikini ready! My biggest piece of advice for anyone doing a Whole 30 – GET A SLOW COOKER. Life saving, truly.

Day one today!…

Had eggwhites with spinach, an orange and 3 small turkey breakfast sausages for breakfast.

Lunch was roasted sweet potatoes, grilled chicken and veggies.

Feeling pretty full actually but it may be because I woke up much later than usual today…

I started on Monday. It is going ok so far. I’ve being sticking to and haven’t felt deprived. I find I only get hungry late at night. I guess because my body is accustomed to all the crap I used to put into it at ridiculous times like midnight! So far I am not missing / craving the sugar and grains and such and I hope it stays that way as I NEED to PERMANENTLY change the way I eat.

Ugh I accidentally went off track yesterday! I ordered Indian food (my absolute favorite). I called ahead to make sure there was no dairy and no sugar in the dish and asked what oil they cook in. I ordered it without rice and without naan and made cauliflower rice to eat it with. I started eating it and a few bites in realized that I forgot there were chickpeas and peas in it! NOOOO! So, today is Day 1 for me (again). Luckily, Fiance and I were already planning on doing this through February as well, so it’s not as much of a blow, but I just can’t believe such a little mistake made it so I have to start over. ๐Ÿ™

Other than that, I have actually had a much easier time with this than I Thought. I feel great and am actually starting to enjoy cooking. I haven’t had as many sugar cravings as I thought I would.

How has everyone else been doing?

Im on day 12 and doing well! To be honest it hasn’t been as bad as I thought it would be so far. I’m also feeling like my pants are already a bit more loose.

I didn’t realize this was an actualy program — but I go on “detoxes” every 6 mos – 1 year (wheneever I start feeling sluggish or mentally fuzzy). It’s essentially the same diet:

– no sugar (not no added sugar…literally no sugar, note even certain fruits that are high in fructose)

– no dairy

– no alcohol

– no caffeine

– no soy products

– no gluten (I do allow other grains in limited quantities. I stay away from rice but I do quinoa)

The first week is the hardest then I get in the swing of meal making again and I feel SO much better. I usually do 6 weeks or so and then go back to my regular diet.

**I do cheat and allow myself honey though. Yes it’s still glucose & fructose but it’s way healthier then sugars or synthetic sugar-replacements.  I rarely use it during my strict diet…but it’s nice to have one sweetener I’m allowed.

Day 19 for Darling Husband and I and we are still going strong!

We’ve eaten 3 meals at restaurants. Two of them I am sure were 100% compliant; I’m not positive about the 3rd (I picked compliant foods, but can’t guarantee the ingredients they used).

Ha ha, cool!  Just saw this thread now ๐Ÿ™‚

This is my 3rd Whole30.  My fiancé and I did it last year so this is our second together. We started right on Jan 1.  It’s been super easy so far- the only difficulty has been traveling (we were in California last week for 4 days)

My true test will be when I go to Panama on Saturday for a week!  Ceviche and plantains, y’all.

We’re feeling really good through! Anyone else tiger blooding?
