@Minnow:  That is a very beautiful dress! All I can see wrong is the puckering on the zipper.

My mother used to say that ‘there is no rest for the wicked’…. well I must be wicked.  Now my daughter has told me that her future husband’s daughter (previous marriage when he was very young) wants to be in the wedding partyYell.  She is 13…. typical, has never wanted to be included but now does.Yell

So I have emailed James to see he can made a dress – modified version of our flower girl dress in time.  I really need it the first week in March, so not sure if it can be done.

I am thinking of:

Same fabric and colour

Same beaded band at natural waist

A-line skirt cut on a slight flare so that the fabric swings a bit – no gathers

Full length

No bow at the back

Straight across neckline with 3cm straps instead of the tank top design

No crincoline so the skirl is more ‘grown up’ looking

Based on this dress…..  What do you Bees think?  Will it work?  Any have a picture of a similar dress I described?

Hey ladies,

I’m kind of a newbee and I feel so blessed to have found you all and this wonderful site! Once I became engaged I started panicking because I’m a grad student and our parents are paying for the wedding! Anywho, thanks to the bee I found Jasmines Bridal shop! Last week I offically ordered my dress and I am so excited. I have tried to be super duper detailed in my emails to James and I have attached a ton of pictures. I just wanted to say thank you to all of you ladies for making these fantablous threads and I am eager to post pictures and get your opinions!

@Aussiemum:  I think it will work. 3 cm straps seem pretty thick though? Being a teenager- she’d probably prefer spaghetti straps. What are you thinking of making her? An older flower girl or a junior bridesmaid?

ETA, is this the sort of “style” you were thinking of but with the beading at the waist, in blue and longer?

@Aussiemum:  I thought it was only me saying here we go again.   The version you described sounds just perfect for a junior bridesdmaid.

Something like this with the wider straps

@hiheel:  YupLaughing Thanks for the photos.  Junior bridesmaid I think.

Hoping to have the skirt cut on more of a cross so it is a bit flowy down the bottom.  Know what I mean?

I don’t really like spagetti straps, so haven’t given her the option.  She is a skinny thing, like a bean pole with no curves anywhere, get what I mean?  I am really happy for my daughter and her future husband, because this has been a bit of an issue with them.  They are both happy that she is joining in so I am really going to have to make this dress happen.

I am just praying that James can make the dress in time… pray for me to.  Because it would look just so awful if she had a totally different dress, and it is critical that she is now part of the bridal party.

I sent James an email last night describing the dress (no photos) just to see what his deadlines are… Chinese New Year and all.  So hopefully I will get an answer by Monday… That is when the other dresses arrive.

Thanks ladies again for the photos.

@Aussiemum:  oh boy, I hope James can come through for you. Considering that it seems like a fairly easy dress with just a little beading at the waist, I’m thinking they might be able to do it for you. Luckily the daughter hasn’t given specific requests to her dress so you are free to pick what you want.

Good luck!

Hey everyone!  Here are my pictures!! They came pretty quick, my payment was finalized around Nov 25.  So, I am not concerned about the accuracy compared to the original.  I love the dress and just want to make sure that there isn’t anything assymetrical or uneven.  Please help, I can’t seem to find much as the other bees on their dress, and just want to make sure!

1) Original dress

22) The dress seems to be a bit lopsided?  There seems to be more booty on the right side of the picture.  The neckline is a bit uneven as well, and I circled a part that seems to be sticking out, or folded outwards on the upper breast area.

3) More views of the folded part on the breast.  There is also an assymetrical part on the side, I circled it.  And there seems to definitely be something going on in the booty!

4) Piece sticking out, I circled.

5) Back is uneven, and that booty!  Maybe Jasmines is trying to make more junk in the trunk for me?  Give me more sass? =P

Thanks girls for helping!  I appreciate your time, and I’m so excited!

May I just say – WOW! I love your choice and I think Jasime made a great job – as these are mid production pics, you will work it up to your perfection.

I agree with most of your concerns, except for the neckline – it does not seem uneven for me, it’s just ‘crooked horison’:

@NYBubblesBee:  That looks pretty good for mid production pictures.  This is the first dress my daughter tried on – just gorgeous

I am hoping to order the Vera Wang Gemma or the Maggie Divina dress closer to my wedding day. I am so confused on how to place my order. Should i opt for the premium craftmanship & the designer fabric? Or should I upgrade both?

@NYBubblesBee:  I agree, very good for mid production. I am sure Jasmines will be able to address your issues.  Keep posting, love to see the progress.

@MrsLevell2Be:  You have been given a couple of good posts to research.

Regarding ordering your dress closer to your wedding date, I wouldn’t leave it too long.  October is not that far off.  You will probably want to order other items, like a veil and maybe bridesmaid dresses.  I ordered my daughter’s dress in May this year for her end of March wedding.  I suggest you order in early March after Jasmines comes back from New Year holidays.

Regarding premium V designer, it depends on how picky you are.  Premium gives you 80-90% accuracy, designer gives you 95%.  I would recommend getting fabric samples sent now so you know what you are going to get and that really gives you an idea of the difference regarding fabric between premium and designer.  A little bit extra to spend, but a lot more confidence later on.

Keep posting because we love to see new dresses.
