Sabrina-NYC:  I’ve decided to take the chance too, Kimie has been a lot more helpful in my follow up emails, I’m having the dress made exactly as is on the site all I want is maybe less material on the skirt so it’s less full, I’m sure they should be able to do that! The measurements are confusing me, I plan to lose weight(at least 2st)between now and September so there is no point in having the dress made using exact measurements so I’m going for a UK size 10…if it’s too big or small I can have the bodice taken in when it arrives. What kind of ellie saab dress are you going for if you don’t mind me asking?

lounytoon: That dress is very detail orientated. I would advise you contacting the consultants directly for more accurate information. The details are very fine and need very high level of craftmanship. I will not be surprise that it’ll cost a bit more than most of our dresses posted here. I do believe that JBS can replicate 95% of the dress but I’m not sure whether I’ll be comfortable leaving that to no photo service. Please do update us if you decided to get it made by JBS 🙂

lisa_may:  Thanks for your input!  I’ve definitely asked Kimmie or photo service.  Would you suggest both upgraded fabric and craftmanship upgrades?

lisa_may:  I have been searching high and low for a qipao style dress that wasn’t so traditional and this is the first one that I’ve seen.  Hopefully as it’s a ethnic Chinese style, they’ve got “native knowledge”.

lounytoon:  I’ll always advise in upgrading if you have the budget to. If I’m not mistaken, JBS might not provide designer craftmanship anymore (photo service)

On the non-traditional qipao, check out the thread by one of our fellow bee:

There’s this design by Leeney Phan (Indonesian designer) that I really like but unfortunately couldn’t get any other pictures of that dress.

lisa_may:  Thanks for your input.  Given that there is no photo service at this time, I do not feel comfortable with moving forward with such a detail heavy dress.

Update on my JB hunt for a long sleeved dress with a higher neckline.

After a couple more e-mails, Liza has said the alfred angelo 867 dress can be done with long tight lace sleeves and higher scoop neckline for $1029.42, which is nearly double to what I had initially thought.

That includes designer grade veil and dress, medium level beading also.

just need to send payment now.

What do you bees think?

Hi Ladies, It arrived yesterday!!! Please excuse my messy room poor quality of pictures… I quickly tried it on in between packing and catching a flight out last night. Here’s a sneak peek! I know it needs to be altered and sinched in a few places so its a little loose, but I wanted to show you all anyways! The quality and weight is impecable. I love Love LOVE it!
