I think that if it relates to you, you should use it.  Like if you had ups/downs or obstacles to overcome in your relationship.  However, if you don’t really have those down/challenging moments, it kinda doesn’t make sense.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this song!!!

I think it is appropriate for a wedding, and the lyrics are great. One of the best part of marriage vows is that you stay togehter in sickness and health, better or worse. Sending the message that you “wont give up” is perfect, IMO

The only part that bothers me is “and when you’re needing your space, to do some navigating…i’ll be here patiently waiting to see what you find” i think that’s how it goes (didn’t click your lyric link)..

I wanted to use this too…but that line is what’s stopping me..

FYI usually DJ’s don’t play the WHOLE song for your 1st dance…so you can make sure it starts before or after that part

I disagree with the notion that you have to have gone through ups and downs for this song to work for you, but if you have and you worked through it then of course its perfect. i think the point of this song is saying that you won’t give up in the times ahead when things get rough, which I think we should all want to feel with our significant others. The words say I wont give up on us, even if the skies get rough..not i didnt give up on us when the skies got rough. i love it for a wedding!

When I hear the song, I just think he is commiting to the relationship through thick and thin, not as a break up song.  I think it’s a really sweet song.

I really love the song but I think it might make for an awkward dance. It take a long while to build up to danceable. Maybe practice dancing with it a few times to see how it feels?

I love that song, but I’m indifferent on it being for the first dance. We just went to a wedding 2 weeks ago and they played this as their first dance song. I was totally shocked, I think my jaw literally dropped. I guess that’s because to me it sounds like he is singing this song when he is AT the bottom point of his relationship and telling her he isn’t going to give up on her. Rather than being at the high point (like the wedding day) saying IF sh*t hits the fan I’ll still be here. All a matter of interrpretation I know. But that’s my 2 cents.

My fiance and I both love this song (which it’s rare for us to agree on songs) and we are using it as our last dance song. I think it’s beautiful and have seen many bees saying that are using it as their first or last song

It’s a beautiful song! I mean, vows typically include “in sickness and in health, for better or for worse, in good times and in bad,” etc. It’s definitely not inappropriate to acknowledge that a marriage takes work.

I have it as a must play for our wedding! Totally appropriate!

I’ve never thought of this song as a breakup song 🙂

I personally love this song, and it always make me think of my SO. It’s a beautiful song, and just because Jason Mraz’s relationship didn’t work out doesn’t mean yours won’t! 🙂

I like the song but I also agree it sounds like a song about a relationship that is struggling or something
