Fiance and I were going over songs today and I’m stuck on a couple and was hoping to get your suggestions. We kind of want to stick with a jazz theme (think Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Michale Buble, Diana Krall etc).
We’re stuck right now on the Entrance song at the reception, and I’m not 100% sure about the bridal party & parents song (we’re having a small bridal party so we were going to do B & G, our parents and the wedding party together.) I don’t want either song to be too lovey dovey. Like right now we have Sway (the Buble version) as the Bridal Party dance song and I don’t have an entrance song. I’m on the fence about Sway because I’m thinking it will be a little to fast, especially for our parents (both of our parents became parents in their late 20’s/early 30’s, I’m 28 and Fiance is 32, so not that our parents are old but they don’t move the way they used to and my mom has said she wants something a little slower…)
For reference some of our other choices are:
First dance – 99% sure it will be “Just the way you look tonight” and probably the Frank Sinatra version
Father-daughter dance – “Slow Sweet Walk” by Edwin McCain (it’s the only song that doesn’t really fit but I LOVE it so much!)
Mother-son dance – “What a Wonderful World” and probably the Louis Armstrong version.
Cake cutting – Candyman by Christina Aguilera
Garter Toss – either Fever by Michael Buble or the Pink Panther Theme
Bouquet toss – Luck Be A Lady again probably the Frank Sinatra version
We’re really trying to get that old school big band hollywood glam feel to the wedding, we’ll be playing jazz all through dinner and cocktail hour and are going to do a jazz age cocktail as our signature cocktail. We’re in an old elegant ballroom of an old hotel as well.
Any suggestions for an Entrance Song and a Bridal Party dance song? Thanks in advance!
