- Wedding: June 2014
I am new here and not sure if this is where this goes but I just wanted to tell you about my incredible experience with JCrew. Before I went I searched on here for posts about them and most were on their bridesmaid line so I wanted to post this incase anyone is wondering about their bridal line as well.
I first went on the website about a month ago and fell in LOVE with the Violette gown. There’s an option on the wedding portion of their website to contact a wedding consultant. These girls all work at the headquarters down in VA so they aren’t actually in the retail stores where you can go to see the gowns but nevertheless they are a helpful informative place to start if you have questions, etc. My wedding consultant Shanell was always prompt in getting back to me and very helpful at answering questions.
About a month after starting email correspondance with Shanell and getting all my questions out of the way, I made an appointment at my Jcrew at Copley place in Boston. My consultant in the store was Joan, who runs the wedding section their and she was incredible! She had me try on about 5 or 6 different styles I might like though to my dismay the Violette I had my heart on had been discontinued 🙁 She placed me on the wishlist however, putting a search order in that meant that if any Violettes were returned to any stores they would call me and I would have one! She decided to place the order for size 6 (my size), 8, 10 and 12 to make the likelihood of me getting one greater and the dress could always be altered down.If I got the gown and didn’t like it in person I had 60 days to return it for a full refund!
I went home happy with my experience but thinking this was a long shot and I would probably have to find another dress. Less than a week later Joan called me to tell me one had been returned to the Copley store (though if one had been returned to any store in the country they would have shipped it to me) and this one happened to be in a size 6! I rushed into the store, tried it on, fell in love all over again and bought it. The dress retails for $1500 but under the advisement of my consultant I was able to use my student discount which is 15% so the total came to approximately $1343 after the discount and with sales tax. I was thrilled, so happy to find the dress but my budget had been $1200 so I felt a little bad about going over budget but I was coping!
The next day, an email came around from Jcrew saying that you could now use this coupon for 25% off your order of $150 or more. I was so upset! that extra 10% means a lot when you are talking about this large amount and it had only been one day. Though jcrew’s website says you cannot apply coupons to previous purchases, I promptly called down to the headquarters in Lynchberg, Va. Shanell wasn’t working that day but I got another very nice woman (i can’t remember her name) and I explained the situation for her. She said no problem she would credit the extra 10% back to my card!
So in the end because JCrew was so helpful and their team was amazing, I ended up finding the discontinued dress I loved in my exact size in less than a week for under my budget (the total came to $1192) 🙂
I am including below some photos of my gown from in the store. I think it’s just beautiful. I do not hesitate at all the recommend the Jcrew line and the jcrew team, they are amazing. One word of warning, over email, according to my measurement and the size charts (my boobs are significantly larger than the rest of me), Shanell told me I was a size 12! When I got in the store it turned out I was actually a size 6. if you can go to one of the stores that carries the bridal line and try some on (even if they don’t have a sample of the one you want) you can then order it online, but hopefully get the right size 🙂
P.S. I also tried on the arabelle, kira and georgina, and I think the crystalline the first time that I have some pictures of so if you are looking to see pictures of any of these in real life I would be happy to send/post them 🙂
