I can see why you are disappointed. Have you thought about getting a used one or sample? The Sabelle is a very popular dress.

Good luck!

I know it doesn’t look like your dress (because let’s be honest, it looks nothing like it at all) but it is still really pretty! My advice is that if it is indeed your dress in the photos, let him ship it and at least try it on. It may not be what you asked for but it might look fantastic on! Or if you hate the dress, is there any way to do a refund/exchange? I don’t know how his company works but maybe he can sell your dress to another bride and starts yours over?

ETA: Apparently I don’t read throughly enough, you already asked him not to ship it. I would email him and go over exactly what was wrong with the dress in detail and hope that his remake is better. Or you can try to find it used, like the PP said.

Oh no! I have no experience with this process, I just felt badly reading about your situation. I hope it gets better for you. * hugs *

oh man πŸ™ you’re right, it is nothing like the sabelle. I *almost* pulled the trigger on a custom dress but freaked last minute because I was worried it would not be close enough. Luckily, I found a dress at a bridal salon that was a cost I could swallow.

could you look for something similar by another dress maker? I am so sorry this happened πŸ™

@Future Mrs Morison: I’m not normally one to tell girls to spend more than they wanted to but it’s your wedding dress! If there’s any wiggle room in the budget and you can manage it, buy the dress you love. I think it’s the only way you’ll be 100% happy with your dress.

Oh that sucks. That’s nothing like the SaBelle. I don’t have any advice but I hope you get it all worked out and he fixes it for you or returns your money. Good luck.

I agree with Gingersnap–if there is ANY way for you to manage it, you should buy the SaBelle…the replica looks nothing like it–it isn’t even made out of taffeta, it looks like chiffon to me.  Good luck and keep us posted!

I think with a dress that detailed and ornate, your expectations probably have to be a little lower or you’re inevitably going to be disappointed. when you’re getting a dress outsourced, your best bet is something with simple construction. for what it is, i think it looks nice but to expect a duplication probably set you up for failure. I would go preowned
