Another bee mentioned a jersey knit dress in one of the threads. Do you think a jersey dress for a bridesmaid is a big no-no? I’m thinking it’s definitely not okay, especially for any degree of a formal wedding. I guess the only reason I’m asking is because I’m having a tough time finding a purple one shoulder bridesmaid dress…I’m kinda liking this one, BUT it’s made out of jersey material.

I think jersey is fine for a wedding. But that waist may not be great on everyone. I certainly couldn’t wear that without looking frumpy. But if your girls will look good in it, go for it.

I’ve seen some that are a “nicer” jersey, or at least look to be. I think there is another company, but this is the one who’s name I recall, Two Birds. Not the cheapest dresses though.

Yeah, you have to be careful with jersey. I was at a wedding once where the bm’s were all tiny little things, but with jersey on, you could see every little bump and panty line!

If it is a ballroom setting, formal wedding, then I think it is a little too casual (the fabric). Especially if the guys are in tuxes. Also, I agree with the brought up point of jersey not being the most flattering material on everyone. but it is a gorgeous, rich color for sure!

@daydreamwanderer: I love shopstyle – best website ever!
I think jersey is great depending on the formality of the event. For a black-tie wedding, probably no. For a more low-key wedding, though, I think it’s fine! I do agree with the other posters though that waistline on the dress you posted may not be very flattering on everyone.

It’s perfect for an outdoor or golf club type wedding, methinks!!

LOVE the color & flowers on this dress!
I think you should at least check out David’s Bridal. I’m not a huge fan of them because I did not receive quality service as a Bridesmaid or Best Man in the past…HOWEVER, they have a lot of syle/color combos.
As others have said I’m not sure if that waist or one shoulder will be flattering on everyone.

@daydreamwanderer – Thanks for the shopstyle info! I’m obsessed with it now!
And yeah, I’m thinking the waistline would also be a problem on this one. Ugh! Why does it seem like there’s always something wrong with every bm dress I find!

Jersey is SUPER comfortable, and it looks cute on this dress. So, I definitely see why you’d want to lean in this direction, but jersey can really be murder on your girls, especially in pictures where the shadows are accentuated with the bumps and lines showing straight through.

The Jersey knit at Davids Bridal isn’t the typical cotton jersey material you normally see. It has a little bit of sheen to it which dresses it up perfectly. We ended up picking these one shoulder dresses and you could try them in purple.

hm well this is the dress I was thinking for my bridesmaids. I wish I had a pic of the back because I LOVE it! The part around the waist is a sash that ties in the back. Now I’m second guessing though because my bridesmaids are diff sizes and dont know if they’d feel uncomfortable in it.
