I went to Sash Jewelry Repair and Custom Jewelry in the diamond district to have my heirloom ring resized and he did great work — he does lots of custom work as well and I’d definitely consider him if I were looking for custom jewelry in NYC. I found him on Yelp and I think he has nothing but 5 star reviews. For my ring resize he literally did it in front of me in 20 mins. I’m sure he’d need longer with a custom project of course, but if you’re looking for someplace with quick turnaround and hate sending your diamond to the jeweler, he might be worth checking out: http://www.sashcustommadejewelry.com

PS It’s super hole in the wall and easy to miss, but I think the low overhead = very reasonable pricing.

My fiancé got my ring from Designs by Kamni who is based in NYC. She did an excellent job with it (it was one of her original designs) but she also does a ton of custom work too from what it looks like on her website and Instagram. I’d definitely recommend her! She was super quick too- we’re from out of state and I think it took around 2 weeks from when she started making it to get here. He even shipped her the center stone he got from James Allen with no issues and she did not charge a setting fee since she made the shank.

Try ID Jewelry.

Also, DK will make you the setting only if you provide him with your center stone measurements.

I used ID jewelry for my eternity wedding band and they did an amazing job, I’d definitely recommend them and their prices are quite reasonable too

I got my diamond from ID Jewelry and they were super friendly and answered any question I had. The owner even let me do a layaway for 3 months for my stone without me ever being able to go to their store. They were so nice and I would definitely recommend them in NY to anyone!
