Ladies I feel sick! I guess I’m just looking for some support and good vibes at this point.
I took my engagement ring to Zales two weeks ago (where it was originally purchased, definitely regretting buying from a chain store right now …) to have my center stone checked on because it seemed a little loose and have it sent off to be re-dipped. They assured me it would be back within 10 days, plenty of time before our wedding.
Well this week I called to check on it twice and yesterday they told me it just came in. Excitedly, I drove an hour and a half to the store. I was so ready to get that ring back on my finger where it belongs!
When I got there they pull out another woman’s ring! It was beautiful and a little similar to mine (cushion cut halo) but definitely NOT mine.
They continued to look through the box of jewelry sent for repair and told me the ticket must have gotten mixed up (since the one with my fiance’s name was attached to the other ring)
I almost lost it in the store. They told me they’d have to look for it tomorrow and call the repair place, but if they couldn’t find it they’d need to replace it.
My heart sank.
So now I’m waiting to see if they can locate my ring hours before I head to the Kentucky Derby for my bachelorette party and days before my wedding.
Thanks for reading my vent. Anyone else have this happen? What did you do?

Awe, I’m so sorry this happened! I can’t believe the store did that to you, that is terrible. I would be so upset too :(. I really really hope they replace your ring with an aaaamazing one to try and make up for it. HUGS!!

OMG! I would be livid. I really hope they find your ring. Its great that they’ll replace it, but the sentimental value of the original can’t be replaced.

@adoc86: My thoughts exactly! They could give me the biggest diamond, but it wouldn’t be the one my fiance proposed with
@prettyinpink11: We called the corporate office last night and they said they’re doing everything they can
I feel like I’m on pins and needles

@LedeLady: My Zales experience was good and bad. I got my wedding band from there. I found the perfect one I was looking for, it just needed to be sized down. Since it was getting down to the wire, they sent it out for expedited sizing at no extra charge, which was nice. They said it would be ready on Friday. Ok, so I came back on Friday, no ring. They said call back Monday. I did, no ring. Tried again Tuesday, no ring. Wednesday, an hour and a half before the wedding (small town hall ceremony) I go in there and it still hasn’t come. They told me they would lend me one from the store to use at the ceremony, which was nice. As I was picking out a ring the delivery truck finally came and I got my ring right in the nick of time. So I get married, wear my ring, and all is well, right? Wrong. Fast forward to the wedding night, at the hotel, husband and I had just come back from dinner ready to you know what. I look down at my hand, a diamond was missing from my ring. Needless to say it killed the mood. So I spend the next 1/2 hour on the floor crying and trying to find this tiny tiny diamond. He convinced me to calm down and it would get taken care of. Next day call Zales and they tell me to bring it back right away. Their policy usually doesn’t allow them to replace diamond jewelry over $200 but under the circumstances they made an exception for me, which was nice. I wanted to replace the one diamond, but they said since it was pave that would not be possible and they’d have to replace the whole ring altogether. So here we go all over again, I had to wait for a new one to get sized. It took over a week to finally get my wedding band. I wish it would have been the one my husband so lovingly gave me on our wedding day but shit happens. I can’t complain about the customer service though. They were very nice and understanding.

that’s so horrible! I’m so sorry this happened to you 🙁 Fiance is very persistant on checking my diamond number everytime I get my ring back from the jeweler

What a nightmare!!! Sending good vibes to you!!

I’d have lost my mind on them!
I guess the only thing I can say is try not to let it steal the joy from your big day. At least they didn’t lose your groom… so you do have the MOST important thing for the big day! It is heartbreaking that they lost something that holds emotional value as well as financial, though. I really hope they find it (with that other’s person’s name tag on it!)

I’m so sorry.. I hope you get an answer (and they find it) really soon!

@LedeLady: That is horrible. WTF is wrong with people?! They mixed up my order at the Indian restaurant last night and gave it to someone else and I was pretty peeved about that! Let alone your ENGAGEMENT RING?! Grrrrr.
