MrsAL2012:

Me, too. I walked for HS and college graduations; I’m totally fine with getting grad certs in the mail. 😉

cherryiice:  the thing is, EVERYTHING takes longer than estimates. That’s why your jeweler, your carpenter, your mechanic and your house painter all give you estimates, not guaranteed completion dates, your airline won’t guarantee what time you’ll land,  and even your wedding caterer will not guarantee that your dinner will be served at the exact stroke of 7. You are holding your jeweler to an unrealistic standard and you are causing yourself a whole lot of stress and drama that you do not really need to be dealing with. The bride who finds out that her ring isn’t going to be ready on time would be a huge drama queen if she stomped Her feet and changed her wedding date, which is why most people in the same situation would be sad that they’d miss out on some sentimentality, and then they’d go buy a stand-in and have their ceremony as planned.

You can’t control  your jeweler’s timeline but you can control your reaction to it, and right now you and your boyfriend are choosing the most stressful reaction you can.

cherryiice:  I feel that way too.  We discussed getting married and agreed that we would years ago, but both of us felt personally that we were engaged when he proposed with the ring.  I think it’s absolutely personal preference!  My sister and her now husband agreed they were getting married and considered themselves engaged, which was their style and totally fine.  It’s a regional thing here (Midatlantic, though my parents grew up in the Northeast and now live in the Southeast) too that parents generally pay for the wedding or help contribute towards the wedding budget.  Good luck bee, I hope the ring comes soon and you get the proposal of your dreams!
