Mine is that small and I’ve hit it tons and not had any issues. The band has shared prong diamonds Vs pave and I think that makes a difference.

My jeweler said the same. I ended up going with a just over 2mm band and honestly it looks pretty dainty to me still.  I figured he knew what he was talking about, and I really wanted something that would last basically forever.

I would just say she’s playing it safe.  Honestly, if they don’t feel comfortable doing that, it’s good they told you.  I don’t really agree that it’s too dainty, like others said I think it depends on quality and what line of work the person wearing it is in.  Go through another vendor and get what you want 🙂

Congrats…hope it turns out great!!

Yeah pretty much what everyone else said. 1.8 is fine for channel, shared prong or solid metal. 1.8 also kind of straddles the line for pave. I hear some trade members say 1.8 minimum for pave and others say 2.

It threatens the durability of the ring over time and often times in the first couple of years if you’re a bit more rough on rings. Some people wear it with no problems I’m sure. However if it were my jewelry I’d rather not take the chance, I would definitely not go below 1.8 though. Especially because aside from regular maintenance or damaging something being my fault, I’d whine like a little baby having to spend money to fix a ring, lol.
