I have been ring shopping (for my engagement ring, even though we have been engaged for almost 6 months now) and finally found someone that we are ordering from this week.

There is a place downtown called the Jewelry Exchange, and I had been in there a couple of times before I found a guy that I really liked his stuff and his prices were WAYYYY better than everyone else.  Let me know if you want his info. His name is David Levi and he sells to a lot of jewelry stores in San Diego, but you can buy through him without the markup.

This is a review for the Irving, Texas location.  I bought a setting (mount) only and they did not tell me that my stone would not fit in the setting.  I had the stone out and they saw it and knew that was what I was planning on putting in it. I took it somewhere else to be set and two independent jewelers said it was the wrong size.  They said they could set it but it would not be secure and might fall out. So, either they knowingly sold me a ring that my stone would not fit in or they simply did not know.  One of the independents told me that they are just salespeople, not jewelers.  And it does seem like they don’t really know about jewelry. No refunds of course. And no exchanges on my particular mounting because it was part of a set so it was a special sale. So, I was just out the money.   I did however get a sweet deal on the mounting but seems like they just say whatever and all they care about is making the sale.  If you want expert opinions, go elsewhere.  If you are well versed in jewelry and know exactly what you want, it can be a good deal.  And make sure you look closely at all diamonds, especially in natural light. Some are crappy with lots of inclusions and they will not point them out to you.

The Jewelery Exchange that is closest to SD is in Tustin, CA. Only a little past Irvine.
