I looked this up on previous posts, but they are about a year old. I just got engaged, and have a gorgeous ring in a micro pave setting. Lucky me-1 day after I had it, I noticed one of the tiny stones missing. I called the jewelry store where my Fiance got it, and I am covered under a year warranty with them so they will replace it. However we need to get the ring appraised, and insured asap. I don’t want to take any chances, and I’m pretty sure the jewelry store is not going to cover the solitaire if anything should happen to it (heaven forbid!)
I looked up a quick quote on jewelry mutual, and it seems affordable, however the sample policy is not too clear on what they cover. Do they cover lost stones? or do they consider that “normal wear and tear?” will they replace my actual ring if something happens to it? Any one have experiences with them or anyone else to recommend?

@mwitter80: thanks! do they send you a check or replace the exact ring/stone?

They typically cover lost stones unless it is less than your deductable.
If you already have renters or homeowners insurance it may be partly covered but it usually includes 2-3000 worth of jewlery but most companies have multiple policy discounts so it would be worth checking with whomever you already have policies with.
My ring is covered by an insurance policy FH took out with the company he has everything with (USAA, for decendants of servicemembers.) It covers pretty much everything including lost rings and stones.

If it’s a tiny micropave stone you lose thats not worth the insurance hassle, but for a bigger diamond that you could not afford to replace outright, definatley go with Jewelers Mutual!
