Hi everyone! I’m new here and so far I’ve found some great information to help with planning my big day! I have a question and would appreciate your opinion…
Has anyone planned a wedding at a hotel and was able to choose the start time of the ceremony or were there set times made by the hotel? My fiance and I would like a late afternoon/early evening ceremony with the reception to follow right after (we’re getting our pictures taken before the main event!).

Hi. I’m not from Florida but just speaking about hotels in general, they usually give you a certain amount of hours, (or the whole day), that you have your room/venue for. After that it’s really up to you when to start/finish. Good luck.

I’m not from Florida either, but what Meokers said is the same thing I’ve seen, the number of hours. If you have the wedding between 2 and 3:30 start you don’t have to serve a full meal and that can save you a ton!!!

The less popular the venue, the more flexible they are. Try renting a library or museum, someplace that may be more flexible and less wedding venue. One of our friends rented a private girl’s school. What about using the temple’s fellowship hall? Everything will be in one place, the altar is already set up, the rabbi is there. And changes are no one is beating down the door to have the reception there so you will have plenty of set and take down time, which is important.
If you want a hotel, you really need to call around and ask for their rules. But generally, they are into maximizing their space and won’t think twice about renting it out in the AM and PM for different functions.
