It seems like given the timeline we want to work with, we would need to purchase additional hours from most venues that run with a standard four or five hour reception. Also need to explain that we want a cocktail hour prior to the ceremony. Has anyone with a traditional Jewish wedding had difficulty getting things to run smoothly with their venue, or am I just worried for nothing? (I tend to do that )

Most venues are ok with the cocktail hour before hand. We are chosing to do ours after though. Just relax and explain to them the reasons why you need things to be done in a certain way. good luck 🙂

we purchased extra hours from our venue because their standarf 5 hour slot from begining to end seemed way to short. Instead we have 7 hours. They had no problem with us having the cocktail hour before the ceremony either.
