My fiance and I are Jewish (well, culturally, but we don’t really practice) and we want to have a rabbi officiate the wedding. Problem is, we want to have the wedding on a Saturday evening probably before sundown. Does anyone here in Los Angeles know of any rabbi who will officiate a wedding during Shabbat? I’m at my wit’s end! I keep thinking about bumping the wedding date up (no date set yet) so that we don’t have to wait until around 8 to get married (in the summer, sundown isn’t until 8PM!!! WHAT THE HECK????)

I think something to consider would be how appropriate it would be for your guests, who might be Jewish, to participate in a Jewish wedding during shabbos.
I am like you, not religious, but a number of my decisions were based on the comfort of my guests given that I was indifferent.
I have no rabbi recommendations, but just want to throw that out there as someone who was in the same situation (I’m getting married on a Sunday – significantly cheaper and less conflict)

There are tons. Pretty much most reformed Rabbis will now perform wedding on Saturday before sundown. Search in the vendor section here and on wedding wire. This Rabbi is highly recommended and will do weddings before sundown,(he was booked for our date) http://www.weddingswithspirit.net/

Only 2 people would care – my grandparents. Everyone else doesn’t care.

I’m getting married on Saturday before sundown in Los Angeles and our Rabbi is going to officiate no problem! He’s the rabbi for our reform temple that we go to maybe twice a year for high holy days. PM me if you’d like his information, he’s really fantastic and we couldn’t be happier with him.
